Don't be giving them ideas, it probably cost a few million to pay consultants to come me up with a lame rebrand. Like Eircom to Eir and Irish water to Irish water.

    🙈🙉🙊

If in doubt, rebrand! It worked for Sellafield, right?

Is that a touch of sarcasm or are you being serious?

Pointless, it would cost millions and just be FAS all over again

Is that meant to be a St Bridgid cross in the logo?

Yes, a photo of a physical St.Brigid's Cross was the original logo of Telefís Éireann in 1961, it becoming more stylised over the years, before being dropped in 1995.

    Gov.tv

The issue is never the issue; the issue is always the revolution.

The Entryism process: 1) Demand access; 2) Demand accommodation; 3) Demand a seat at the table; 4) Demand to run the table; 5) Demand to run the institution; 6) Run the institution to produce more activists and policy until they run it into the ground.

    The new Logo for RTE:

Wanderly Wagon. Okay, throw a pile of money at Lambert Puppets or it's current incarnation and then use before news, chat shows cartoons. kiddy friendly. .

    1 radio station, news/current affairs/public interest/weather/regional sport.

1 TV station, as above, some home-made entertainment.

1 Website, as above with catch-up function.

    Orchestras- gone

2fm etc (Inc Lyric and all the rest) for sale if anyone wants to buy a massive loss making bundle of shyte, otherwyse bin them.

Relocation to more affordable location (Ballymount Ind. Est. for example)

Pay-Cap to 120k with % levels across the org.

Funded entirely by central funds, no licence fee or advertising (I know the sales function is a cost to the org, would never happen in private sector).

    Done.

Some folks don’t seem to realise that public service broadcasting isn’t about exclusively producing programmes that meet the unachievable standards of the sort of middle-aged dude that posts a lot on Boards.

So what if you don’t watch Ireland’s Fittest Family, listen to Lyric, or visit the archives website? Others do. We all chip in. That’s the model. Take a visit to a country that has scrapped PSB and tell me about the quality of free-to-air broadcasting. Or Virgin’s investigative journalism output - Gurrier Shoplifters with Paul Williams.

    It doesn't matter.

Uisce Éireann is still the omnishambles Irish Water (obviously) and Garda Roads Policing Unit is still the Traffic Corps.

Both utterly pointless PR driven expensive exercises that Irish people never fall for.

When it comes to RTÉ, cut out the dead wood, close down the luxuries they can no longer afford and put a new permanent Commission in place to oversee it once the current Board has been sacked.

It doesn't matter what its called, or particularly how its funded. It only matters how its run and whether its delivering for the people of the Country.

Why should anybody be be forced to support a station that produces 95% garbage, why can't they cut back to essential news and current affairs? Rebranding would be a braindead thing to do with taxpayers money but cutting out the non essential stuff would be common sense, times have changed and there's plenty of other sources for news and so many other entertainment options. If people want the likes of fair City this should be an optional charge. It's very clear that RTE has not moved with the times.
