RTE A brand in bad need of a rebranding and a new Logo

At the moment it's reputation is in the gutters after the Tubridy controversy and the Toy Show the Musical Controvesery.

People need to be charged in relation to what has gone on there the past decade or so. It's white collar crime at its finest. Very little to no repercussions for the people involved means no lessons learned. Never mind rebranding or anything else, that's just a distraction from the real things that should happen.

That's exactly what they need to do, spend another ton of money on something that's not needed. A corporate rebrand would cost another couple of million.

As this is After Hours, I suggest the WBBC, West British Broadcasting Corporation. Heck the BBC is more popular here than RTE.

On what was RTE1, adopt the BBC1 schedule with the news and weather slots filled locally. A few local substitutions for Nationwide, Mass, that sort of thing, Prime Time for Panorama.

On what was RTE2, air sports and whatever takes their fancy from BBC2, BBC3, BBC4. There must be at least one Michael Portillo documentary per day (this does not represent a change from their regular scheduling).

Changing the name changes nothing. Rebranding just makes a fool of the paying public.

If I had my way, and I know I won't. I'd clear the.whole lot out from top to bottom and start fresh.

No one who's brother sister dad mam or grandparent worked there previously.

No getting a.job be ause of your questionable talents.

No agents with or without an agenda. I.e. out to auxk the cash cow as dry as possible.

But I can only dream.

Oh forgot the most important but..a cap on any salary no matter what your position. No comparing amount to what one might get on a non state owned channel or a British one.

No one earning more than the CEO including board members.

No golden handshakes or exit packages.

Do your job. Get paid a fair amount. And don't be greedy.😁🥱

That's almost what Network 2 was going to be. RTE had a cable feed available to simulcast Top of the Pops etc already

Strip it down to news, current affairs, sport, quality cultural content.

The rest can be looked after by someone else, they buy in most of it anyway. The bulk of "home grown" stuff are knock-offs of formats from other producers, these we can do without.

Clear out the canteen of "friends and family" of RTE and the assorted hangers on. Decision makers who led us to this point should be charged, demoted or shown the door.

Rebranding is costly, and unnecessary and throwing good money after bad imo.

The issue is that the state have ponied up tens of millions to cover the losses this year on top off a not insignificant license fee income and an advertising budget. Nobody is going to get charged for what has gone on as there's not been a proper criminal investigation (correct me if I am wrong on that) just a number of talking shops.

Current board and execs have absolutely no impetus to improve how things are done as they know the state will pony funding shortfalls.

It's a farce.

People think a new name brand changes things. It costs money and doesn't change things, people are easily distracted.

Keep Radio 1, close down Radio 2 young people don't listen to aging disc jockeys anymore.

Get rid of the orchestra.

Sell off or otherwise close down loss makers Lyric and TG4/R na G. If people want the Irish language, they can get off their backsides and learn/re learn it.

The rubber will really hit the road when the monolith runs out of other peoples money to keep it chugging along. Scheduled tv is a dying medium.
