Presumably you are responding to my comment in which case you should re-read what I posted because your response woukd suggest you didn’t read it properly...

There is no evidence that the garda investigation put much, if any, effort into looking at other suspects compared to Bailey.

The answers to.how Bailey was first identified as a suspect should be covered in the Garda Jobs Book for the investigation. But someone tampered with that specific area and ripped out those pages.

    Doesnt suggest a proper investigation.

I think it was a combination of Bailey's personality, an incompetent police force as well as anti-English attitudes in the Ireland of the mid 90ies. Also historic / long term local residents vs blow-ins may have been at play.

There is no doubt there was some incompetence, however the majority of allegations about garda incompetence were complete made up myths and rubbish.

A flavour of this rubbish was the myth the gardai lost the gate, the gardai asked Shirley to drive through the crime scene and go to the dump, or that they didn't search her car and similar nonsense, or that Marie Farrell was intimidated by the gardai into making certain statements.

Gsoc looked into Farrells allegations and came to the same conclusion everyone else has about her (except Sheridan) that she's a liar, perjurer and fantacist, whose wasting of garda time possibly meant the case could never be solved.

As for any allegations Bailey made against the gardai, most were complete rubbish.

Re why Bailey was a suspect, you only have to read back what I said about the DPP report and what others have said to see this man was also a liar, who gave countless false or conflicting alibis. He also strongly fits the profile of the murderer, strong, fit, violent, knew the location well, with opportunity (NO ALIBI). There's multiple statements also about him burning potential evidence a day or two after the murder, with the DPP both saying he doubts there was a fire but also there could have been one, ie he had no clue either way.

The DPP report was a farce, the DPP ignoring blatent lies and contradictions from Bailey. In one interview he said he was up all night writing. In the next interview when it was put to him he was spotted out walking that night, he claimed to be in bed.

Now there's a very small chance Bailey was innocent but with behaviour like this, he did his level best to make himself by far and away the prime suspect and bring attention to himself.

There were other lies ignored by the DPP by the way, eg that Bailey wasn't up near Sophies cottage for 18 months before the murder, when multiple witnesses put him at a retirement party next door only a few months before.

Bailey with all his lies brought it all on himself, 100%.

The DPP's report was a complete joke.
