I think it should be good for Biden anyway as it makes him look strong. It's exactly what he needs at the moment to get his ratings up in the poles. People who say he was a weak president can not day that anymore.

I can't see it having the desired effect of discouraging the Houthis from attacking marine traffic, quite the opposite I would say, and only serves to add uncertainty and tension to the powder keg. Pointless and dangerous move I think.

Removing the capability may have some influence regardless of discouragement, however.

Obviously they're not going to be able to stop all UAV launches, but things like anti-ship cruise missiles and ballistic missiles which are also being lobbed, and which are far more dangerous to shipping than a small drone, are easier to detect and destroy.

The Houthis announced that they were going to attack vessels with an Israeli connection, but they attacked any vessels that happened to be in the Red Sea. They deserve the backlash for that.

Of course the other thing is that those in the UK which I Brexited from, begrudge eight pounds a week plus a room for refugees and asylum seekers and are very vociferous about it too, even to the point of violence.

Yet those same "financially astute" citizens never seem to be concerned at the use of a bomb costing 100,000 to take out a perfectly innocent Middle Eastern family.

Lo and behold, they have their army trot in like any American poodle does and then can't seem to figure out why Iranians, Iraqis and Syrians form a large number of the displaced floating in across the channel.

I still think it was a stupid move by US/UK.

The risk/benefit ratio is way off, and they have expanded the conflict in the region. Wiser options must have been available to deal with the threat to shipping... just seems like a silly symbolic act to me (who is no expert at these things at all).

Biden may be president at the moment however the world was absolutely not a bastion of peace before he took office and it’s all gone downhill from there.

As an aside, this is typical in politics I find where you have a President that F’s up and makes a giant mess, preceded by another President who inevitably ends up spending their time cleaning up after the last guy while simultaneously being blamed for not adhering to all their own campaign promises (cos they’re fixing prev issues), not fixing everyone’s issues fast enough & then are chalked up as useless on either a comparable scale to the prior prez or worse than.

I feel like to blame Biden for the world’s problems at the min is to do that. Trump was in office and caused an awful lot of the shite we see today. He made it seem acceptable to be ignorant, to shout down people who disagree with you, he emboldened Russia, the taliban seized control again and so on.

Jesus I mean Trump made America look like such a joke North Korea is without a fcuk to give chattering away about military action against the south.

They haven't expanded the conflict,Iran expanded the Conflict when they gave the go-ahead for Hamas to invade Israel on October 7th raping and butchering as they went along, only Iran's plan's didn't go to plan Hamas has been anilated and thousands are now heading to Israeli prisons , Hizbollah has completely chickened out of the fight altogether knowing exactly whats going to happen if Israel comes knocking on Lebanons doors ,that leaves the other useful idiots in Yemen who are now finding out what happens when you start threatening the US military and there Allies interests.
