    It will not be cheap in this country!

    Guide price of 55K in Germany is being thrown about in the motoring media.

    Previous Peugeot new models have a history of faults with early production runs and associated issues with the company denying existence of issues and carrying out corrective work under warranty. I would not be rushing to be one of the early owners.

    I have the latest version of the ice 5008. It's a grand family car with my only big issue being the painfully slow and unresponsive infotainment system. I'd assume they will improve on that for the e-5008 and use the same systems they have in their latest EVs. They do look a bit better from what I've seen in reviews of the e208 and e3008

    My wife has a 5008. Agree it's a brilliant family car, a true 7 seater. The infotainment is poor alright and the drive on it isn't great. If they can do a good job on the e-5008 it would definitely be high on my priority list.

    Wow that's an awful decision by Peugeot. A few years ago we were trying to decide between the 5008 and the Skoda Kodiaq and went with 5008 mainly for the 3rd isofix in the 2nd row

    Mark, is the 3rd isofix across the middle not a huge competitive advantage/differentiator for the 5008, I read a data point somewhere that "only" 20% of their market wanted it - that is huge. EV9 operating in a different price sphere thinking its a Merc.

    It looks like the boot is smaller when the 6/7th seats are folded down compared to the current boot as well as the middle isofox seat going?

    Boot with rear row seats in place looks the same to me. I suspect the extra 15cm in length is in the wheelbase. Middle isofix gone is no big deal, it still looks like a proper usable seat. If it’s priced competitively, it should sell well. There is an obvious gap in the EV market for a car of its size with 7 seats.

    I would disagree on the middle seat, it looks much narrower than the others, also it doesn’t slide independently so adding this to the absent isofix point I think it is a big step back for families with 3 children especially where needing multiple car seats. Probably more comfortable where there are only 2 in the back. Options are running out for 3 equal sized seats in the back EV or ICE.

    I understand your point but it could be viewed by Peugeot as minority issue. Most families with a young family will put a slightly older child in that middle seat on a booster that can fasten their own seatbelt. It’s a PITA to climb in to fasten in a small child in a centre seat which is why it works best to have the smallest beside the doors for access. It’s probably all down to cost savings, most french families only have 2 kids anyway.

    Yes I get that the main target market is probably families with 2 children and then with the option of 3 occasional seats. Families with 3 children are a minority and don’t really have any other options at the price point except the second hand market so financially Peugeot can decide to cut the cost and not expect it to impact sales. For practicality though for 3 in the back I think the existing model is considerably better.

    Just checked it there and these are the figures with the 6/7 seats down so full boot or just 5 passengers.

    Current 5008 - 952 litres

    New e5008 - 748 litres

    So it has lost just over 200litres of boot space too by the looks of it. That's going off figures given in online reviews.

    Doesn’t make sense considering the extra 15cm in length but the 2 rows of rear seating look a little more plush than the current model. LWB 7 seat ID.Buzz now available in the UK and could be a viable competitor if priced keenly here.

    Looks like order book has opened in UK. Only for the smaller battery pack and starting at £48.5K. I guess we'll be looking at almost €60k. Heat pump and other bits are add-ons… didn't check the GT line to see what was included, that's over £52k

    Looks like a big premium for the EV version, a petrol(mild hybrid) in the same trim is £11K cheaper than the 73kWh EV….. PHEV version is £5K cheaper than the EV. GT spec is below;

    It's not for me. We are in the market and had hope for this one. But I think it'll be a second hand ice until the options improve. Kodiaq have a plug in hybrid with 100km of range(but only 5 seats??) How often would a family car do more than 100km? Ioniq 9 not far behind the Peugeot release either.... Plus having watched a few reviews and reading between the lines, I don't think driving the E5008 is going to bring you any joy.

    Had hopes myself as i had a 190 awd version and it was brilliant. The prices skoda are looking for now will push me out of the brand though. Current car is a sorrento phev, much better bang for buck than skoda now..

    True, but skoda and peugeot were much better value a couple of years ago too. A sign of the times unfortunately.

    Still good value in comparative terms to some other brands. Mine is a 221 version and at least these newer ones are really holding their value well.

    Last I checked (last year), the cheapest available new 5008 was in the €50ks. In common with some other models, Peugeot state a "from" price, but the only cars available are in higher trims.

    A few dealers have them advertised on DoneDeal. €50K & €55K starting depending on battery size. Alloy wheel design look brutal on them no matter what trim level. Maybe a better choice than a 7 seat Model Y depending on spec.

    I see one there at 50k alright. I'd imagine that price is incorrect? The petrol hybrid allure is priced even higher than it and the electric it says is a GT.

    Was doing a bit of looking into it and the following seems to be gone from the car.

    Independent moving of middle second row seat. The middle isofix.

    The tables on the back of the seats?

    The front passenger seat being able to fold down. Very handy for transporting long items.

    Window blinds you now have to go up to GT spec.

    It now only has two isofix. The previous 3008 even had three isofix. Two in the back and one in the passenger seat.

    Will definitely have to be seen in person for a fair comparison.

    Interesting value prop. The only people I could see going for this are those that need an actual 7 seater (as a 5 seat, the model Y is a better option in every way, just not a real seven seater). Also, I can't see why anyone would buy the non EV version at that price. The 4k extra for the LR seems a no brainer. Knowing absolutely nothing about the spec levels the Allure LR seems the way to go.

    That was first question I had, was the EV anymore than combstion and they seem to be the same price

    Gone is the day when the 5008 was starting at 30k

    In the 7 seater you have

    Merc EQB - small inside and really a 6 seater

    Kia EV9 - sorry and maybe its just me but I wont spend the guts of 100k on a Kia

    Tesla Model X - dont think you can buy new anymore

    Maxus Mifa 9 - expensive for a car with no resale value

    Peugeot and Opel have a combi van type thing in a 7 seater but I dont think in Ireland anymore

    They also have a large people carrier in a 9 seater thing but its awful ith a small battery so greta for a crehe and thats bout it

    The PSA van is only 50kWh, very low spec (not even cruise), and it is very range limited. This one seems a better option. The X you can buy but it starts at very expensive pricing.

    The EQB is a 5 seater if your kids have legs or you have luggage. We looked at one before buying our X. The Kia is mad overpriced. The Maxus is a joke tbh, more of an airport chauffeur car than a private one, can't see anyone buying it that isnt writing off the cost against taxable profits.

    There isnt really a standard 7 seat EV for reasonable money. Think of the likes of a ford galaxy, seat alhambra etc. This peugeot may fill that bill. I will watch the reviews and try arrange a test drive. If (as I assume it will) my tesla is confirmed as written off, I'll be looking for a new EV shortly so this may be on the shortlist. It could replace my diesel XC90 7 seater and my crashed tesla 3 EV in one go.

    Seems in stock in dealers now, actually, which is surprising considering its not online on the irish peugeot site yet. This one isnt too far from me I could consider a trip down tomorrow.

    That is what I hope the Peugeot will start a lot of those standard 7 seaters which is severly lacking for electric card

    I have a diesel Q7 and it is lovely

    Airside have one, thats the one I am going to test when I ave 5 mins

    I paid 38k for a new allure spec 1.2l petrol 5008 in 2011. It's been fine as a family workhorse and will keep it for years to come. I know the cheapest options are different engines and updated infotainment but 15k increase in 3.5 yrs seems mad

    Mate has a Kodiaq they bought in 21 I guess as coming up end of PCP, they can't afford to get a new Kodiaq or keep on PCP because of the price jump in them over that period. Crazy stuff

    Obviously the missing spec items from the outgoing 5008 are mainly cost cutting but who really needs tables on the seat backs or window blinds. It’s just more stuff for kids to break. The LR looks good value for a decent size 7 seater. It doesn’t really have a direct competitor at the moment.

    I agree. Even accounting for increased production costs, hybrid tech and upgraded infotainment, I feel like that there is a €5K premium on these prices. After all, the 5008 design is still at its core an MPV dressed up to look like an SUV.

    It is a lot of the technology which was used in the old 5008, which was converted into a more "rugged" look with the new model as that was the market shift from MPV to SUV, it's not a SUV its a crossover at best

    Now its an electric "SUV" but crazy to think everything in this bracket is now 50k

    A 7 seater X-Trail is 60k, I didn't buy one in 2016 I think becuase at 32-35k I felt was expensive for a Nissan

    Families, my kids get great use out of the tables and the blinds are great for blocking out the sun for the kids and baby. They might be small items but those items are what make it a family car. Still need to see the car in person but it does seem to be price going up and spec going down.

    My brother bought a 5008 Allure 1.2 in 2018 for 35k. I bought a 221 and it had gone up to 46k. It then jumped a few months later to only auto available and 52k+.

    Cars in general even though some seem to be coming down are off the wall. Would love to have looked at a kodiaq but again it's over 50k and doesn't have any electric option which kills it off the bat.

    E-5008 at the moment will still lead the way as a 7 seater electric. Unless the EV9 suddenly has a massive price reduction.

    People are quoting price increases from 2018-2021 to now, but you're forgetting the compound effect of multi year high inflation. The raw Euro number has increased but if we take the above example of 35k in 2018 and apply 2% inflation in 2019,2020 then 5% in 2021 and 10%in 2022 and 2023 and 5% in 2024 you get 48.5k. Not a million miles away from the 52-55k equivalent, and also the VRT has gone up in the interim.

    EV9 is a different class of a vehicle. More of a yellow pack EX90/Q7/X5.

    On the inflation according to the CSO calculator CPI from Jan 2018 to now is 22.4% so 35K would be 43K now, a long long way from 52K and not even hitting that 2022 figure of 46K yet. The 46K in 2022 to now would be in line with 52K now if a January Registration, not if July. That is just by CPI of course but on current trends CPI to next January will also be negligible.
