    Apologies, Caucasian.

You know what I meant, regardless.

And before anyone starts, I am not defending the Puskas in anyway. F*ck them all out and let him rot.

Good episode this week especially discussing the Poska scum what wa it 20 people in that house getting up at 12:30 and sitting around drinking coffee no on working all sponsored by the Irish taxpayer sickening.

I also enjoy Ian O'Doherty's weekly podcast The State of Us interesting interviews with the likes of Paddy O'Gorman Stella O'Malley and Michael Murphy

John does make some shrewd observations but I don't rate Sarah at all; she just sputs banalities and platitudes…

It's great to have people that actually come close to having similar views to almost everyone I know in real life, and having the guts to air them.

While I agree that they do pick and choose topics.

Re the title of this thread, I actually think Gript is a great source of information, shame the title of this thread is so negative :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 945 ✭✭✭For Petes Sake

Awww. I hope you can recover.

Many people happen to think it's a great source of misinformation. Considering they're in court for identifying the wrong person as a result of racial profiling, they'd be correct.

Great podcast this week, John and Sarah both hitting many nails on their head, certainly rang true in how I feel the country is heading and being handled by the our politicians.

Maybe you should try and diversify your circle of people.

At least their members payments will go to good use. I'm guessing the person they wrongly identified will be pocketing a hefty sum of money due to their racial profiling. Keep donating! :)

John and Sarah don’t like Micheál and Simon commenting on Gaza and Palestine, because they think they should be focusing on domestic affairs.

If Micheál and Simon were praising Trump and travelling to Budapest to pay homage to Orban, John and Sarah would be much less outraged

It was a good one alright this week calling out Harris and Martin making fools of themselves and not focused on the issues here. Good discussion around the presidential race. No way would I vote for Connelly! John hinting that he wouldn't be surprised if Bertie runs.

I for one, am glad the whistler blower brought this to the attention of Gript and they published it. It raised awareness of what certain groups are actually pushing into schools. The education system, its unions and training programmes are completely captured by dangerous ideologies, and if it were not for whistle blowers risking their jobs, the general public would be none the wiser.

The press ombudsman hasn't found it to be a fair representation and I'm inclined to say that you and others are pretty gullible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,284 ✭✭✭prunudo

The press ombudsman found in favour of a state body that is pushing a certain agenda into schools which a whistle-blower brought attention to, I'm shocked, shocked I tells ya.

I listened to the recordings at the time, it was pretty much sensationalism...

Calling her a whistleblower is an insult to real whistleblowers who risk their jobs and sometimes their livelihood to bring truth to light

She is a Karen nothing more .

So which schools exactly have had this pushed in them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 16,711 ✭✭✭✭Goldengirl

The Press Ombudsman or any Ombudsman is the very definition of impartial .

That you think they are not is proof that you are reading too much conspiracy tripe in that publication . And some other dodgy media .

It raised awareness of what certain groups are actually pushing into schools.

The problem with that narrative, is that it didn’t do any such thing, but rather made a point of the fact that the course content is not being delivered in Irish schools. Don’t take my word for it though, the Irish Bishops Conference, which are the representative body for Catholic Bishops who are the Patrons of 98% of National, or Primary schools, and 48% of Secondary, or Post-Primary schools in Ireland, put out a video on YouTube (Jaysis aren’t they awful trendy with the YouTube and all 😂), stating for a fact, that the course content was not being delivered in Catholic schools (from Gript and all) -

    https://gript.ie/sphe-programme-did-not-get-approval-from-any-catholic-bodies-bishop-alphonsus-cullinan/

It was a misleading statement (hands up anyone who is remotely surprised?)*, because the course content was not intended for delivery in ANY school in Ireland in the first place. This was made clear to attendees on the course. And it was made clear at the time when the former SPHE teacher made her claims, which were found to be false -

She falsely claimed that she was expected to show similar imagery to her second-level junior-cycle students.

DCU said it was made “explicitly clear to those taking the course that exercises and resources that were not age appropriate were not to be used in school classrooms”.

The education system, its unions and training programmes are completely captured by dangerous ideologies…

See stats above, notwithstanding the fact that in order to be employed by the BOM of Catholic schools, teachers must be in possession of a Religious Certificate which they can only get by completing a course which is designed to educate them in the delivery of Catholic Education in Catholic schools. The education system in Ireland, is dominated in all aspects, by the RCC, so your idea of the education system being ‘captured’ by ‘dangerous ideologies’… I’m struggling to imagine how you even managed to come up with that idea, I just don’t want to think you’ve completely abandoned your critical faculties and will swallow any old shyte you’re fed by Gript. I know it sounds like the only reasonable conclusion given your affinity for Gript, but look, I’m Catholic myself so I’m willing to entertain some fairly ‘out-there’ alternative explanations for a lot of things 😂

and if it were not for whistle blowers risking their jobs, the general public would be none the wiser.

No whistleblowers were harmed in the making of a bullshìt story out of nothing risked their jobs, and the general public is far wiser than Gript gives them credit for. Although saying that, while the general public IS Gript’s audience, the proportion of the general public they have managed to capture, as an audience, in relative terms, is fcukall. Their audience feels wiser though, and Gript have had their fun, and that’s all that matters to Gript (and pushing the subscriber model, obviously).

*That asterisk above? Here it is below 😂 But seriously, just wanted to address one of the claims which is made in the sharticle which I linked to, authored by Gript. They claim that -

Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan has said in a recent video that controversial SPHE materials, which have been discussed in a viral video, “did not get approval from any Catholic body”.

In saying so, the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore contradicted Minister for Education Norma Foley, who said in response to questioning from Gript that the revised SPHE curriculum was “signed off by all of the different bodies, including management bodies, including religious bodies, religious representative bodies”.

They are conflating two different things (again, anyone remotely surprised - lamh suas! 👋). The Bishops statement is correct, because the SPHE materials being referred to in the video, were not provided to the Bishops Conference for their approval in the first place. The course in DCU has fcukall to do with the Bishops (there may have been a few who might have been interested in the marla mickeys… but those few aside 😒).

The SPHE curriculum for the Junior Cycle, which Ben is getting schooled on by the Minister for Education at the time, Norma Foley, is an entirely separate matter, nothing whatsoever to do with the course in DCU. The statement by the Bishop does NOT contradict what Norma Foley said in response to Ben pissing his pants (least she didn’t tell him take them off and go stand by the radiator 🤨), because the SPHE curriculum for the Junior Cycle WAS signed off on by the Bishops and religious representative bodies and whomever else -

    https://www.catholicbishops.ie/2023/05/16/catholic-education-partnership-welcomes-the-publication-of-new-junior-cycle-curriculum-for-social-personal-and-health-education/

It’s one thing to publish something and realise afterwards they’d made a mistake, issue a retraction, be grand; it’s something else entirely when they’re deliberately publishing misleading information, outright falsehoods, it’s not even quality bullshìt, it’s the absolute worst of bullshìt I’ve ever had the displeasure to lay eye on (and I’ve read not just the Catechism, but all the Books of the Bible too, and plenty of literature of dubious quality), but Gript are by far, the worst of them, because they have to know for a fact, that what they’re publishing is bullshìt. Others are forgiven on the basis that while it’s bullshìt, they’re obviously not intending it to be so, whereas Gript, they simply cannot argue at this point that it’s intended to be anything else given the evidence that would contradict any such assertion.

Well, I suppose technically, they could argue it, but like I said - I’ll entertain a lot, and I’m all for giving anyone the benefit of the doubt, but Gript, at this point? Better chance of Jesus making a comeback tbh 😒
