A lot of spots still up for grabs on the pro tour OoM in particular, the overall OoM too and a few regional qualifiers still to be decided.

This year's last chance PDPA qualifier will have 4 spots

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Current OoM situation here

    https://www.dartsrankings.com/wch

From an Irish perspective, William O Connor, Dylan Slevin, Steve Lennon, Mickey Mansell and Keane Barry are all pretty much certain to be in.

Looking likely that Lennon will need to win his first round match and probably his second round as well to keep his tour card.

John O Shea will probably need to come through the PDPA qualifier and then win a match or two or he will lose his card

Lennon still in qualification spot for players championship finals. A run in that might ease the pressure a bit

Fallon has been awarded an MBE.

Looking forward to commentators and pundits constantly referring to her ‘Fallon Sherrock MBE’ during the worlds.

It'll only be for one session though and she'll be knocked out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,984 ✭✭✭Degag

If she’s one of the last to play the first round it’ll be about 10 days and 20 sessions listening to it.

Which i’m looking forward to as i said.

So there's 28 random ish (developmental) qualifiers, so 96-28= 68, almost neatly 64, which is 2nd round and on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,455 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Mad that's there only one more big tournament (2x if you're counting the tour card qualifer) til the start of the championship

    Year has flown

The WDF must be getting sick with all the players that have pulled out after qualifying for the PDC Worlds. The draw had already been made for the WDF tournament too. I can't see it lasting for much longer.

They will now have a replacement player who couldn't qualify as the 11th seed. Mental stuff

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Prakash Jiwa suspended and likely out of world's. Will mean 5 qualifiers now from PDPA event next Monday

Isn't there a full round 1 where 32 will be knocked out and then the top 32 join in to play those remaining 32 in the second round? What's that projected draw above?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,826 ✭✭✭Mr. Guappa

The full draw has yet to be made. That's just the projected Last 32 based on current rankings.

It's the most wonderful time of the year

Humphries must be one of the big favourites but we've seen favourites fall early in this tournament before

But why? Looking at that promo image, the T20 bed looks invisible compared to the black single!

Pure publicity stunt... You don't actually think that's gonna happen do you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

I'm assuming its just attention seeking publicity and wont actually be in place. Would be standard enough type PP stuff

Can't say they're the greatest draws for the Irish lads. Should get past first round games but can't see them winning their seeded ones

Looking at the Tour Card race, I think Radek has the best chance since he's only facing the Finn Kantele, and Barney who is often out of sorts.

Lennon might scrape in against Bates — as I suspect Doets will lose to Buntz — but definitely will get bodied by Clayton.

Hempel is an unknown. Slevin and Dimi are both unpredictable matchups, at least depending on what for Dimi brings in.

Scutt needs to win round 2... and not a hope against the Iceman.

    Tricky draw for Smith

Did any champion ever go undefeated for the whole championship ?

It would be such an impressive feat

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

I dont get the question. Every champion goes undefeated in it, by definition.

Unless you mean defending champion. If so, Phil Taylor (many times), Jackpot and Gary Anderson have all done so.

In fact Taylor went undefeated from 1995 until the 2003 championship

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,455 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Sorry meant to make myself clearer

Did anyone ever go on to win every single leg they played

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,604 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

That's just impossible over 6 matches with alternate throw - eventually the losing player will go out in 12 darts on his own throw which can only be beaten by a 9 darter.

It's happened in individual games especially in earlier rounds when it just means 9 legs in a row. But Taylor came close to perfection against Peter Manley in both their finals with the loser only winning 3 or 4 legs from what I remember, Taylor obviously winning 21.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,691 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Winning every set while extremely unlikely just might be possible. But yeah every leg is an impossibility

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,455 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Steve Beaton is truly a legend of the game

Madness how he's still performing at the highest level
