I think it's just ineptitude tbh. It's probably an idea of that is very low priority for shell so they can't be bothered sorting it out. Ireland is a tiny market.

From the perspective of Aldi though it's bad PR.

Possibly, unfortunately it apparently doesn't say anything about the chargers being usable

Remember, Shell was required by Dutch courts in 2021 to reduce their emissions. Installing EV charging is notionally one way to do this

I'm sure they'd prefer the chargers worked, but it clearly isn't a priority for them. Instead they're focusing on overturning the court ruling (and recently succeeded 🙄)

I've been trying to get their charge card now for the last 3 months. E-mails go unanswered for months. Aldi completely washed their hands of any involvement.

Has anybody any idea of what's going on?

Two check-ins the last four months in Aldi Dunshaughlin car park. Before that there was a year gap of check-ins. Maybe they fixed them or it's people with a shell card.

    Seems a waste of resources.

I thought I tried both areas maybe not. Lost interest in it now. There enough reliable chargers to be bothered messing with these. I thought they might be useful if stuck somewhere without a lot of chargers.

Tbh IMO not useful if they are hit and miss like that.

It's an oil company, they could literally burn money to heat their offices and still be profitable

Those chargers are nothing but a box ticking exercise, if Aldi or Shell had any interest in EV charging they'd be installing 50kW chargers

Useless. I have their charge card and I have a registered account. Went to use it last week and it said my card was no longer in use. Tried ringing their help line and it takes you around the houses but you never get to speak to anyone.

Infrastructure has to be built and maintained to get supply to those chargers. It could be used for chargers people actually can use.
