SA 22/3 Markram out now. Big ask now!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭Jacovs

What the actual **** is Bavuma's job? He doesnt bat, he doesnt bowl, not sure he is worth much as a captain.

I can hear his end of game interview already, bowlers didnt do enough. He always blames the bowlers, without seeing the irony of him getting no runs most matches.

24/4, Van der Dussen out for 6. SA in a whole pile of trouble and scoring at around 2 an over. Hazelwood bowling really well. Big score and partnership needed from Miller and Klassen.

28/4 after 12 overs. Wont make it to 100 at this rate.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭Jacovs

Raining now, play stopped. If it keeps on raining then SA will go to final. Which based on the current performance would not be fair at all.

SA did well rebuilding but that's a disaster by Klaasen getting out to Travis Head. SA 119/5.

Unreal. Jansen out first ball, Head on a hat-trick!!

Quota player unfortunately, South Africa is a complex nation with a troubled history, no shock that he got 0, shouldn't have played either, was injured

Big wicket for SA Marsh out for 0 following Warner's dismissal for 29. 61/2

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭Jacovs

lol thanks, im south african. Even with quota system in mind, there has to be better options than him. Holding the team back for a long time now. He didnt even get picked up by any team for the inaugural SA T20 league earlier this year. Only towards the end of the tournament did a team pick him, because they had injuries.

If your captain doesnt even get picked by any teams then its bad.

Only have to look at the SA rugby team as an example of how it should be done, with all the politics and quotas.

Australia will get these runs easily so SA have to bowl them out.

Can't believe Labuschagne survived his lbw shout. It looked stone dead on first view.

Australia only have to knock it around now and it's a comfortable spot in the final. Ball doing plenty though for South Africa's spinners.

Margins go against Labuschagne this time. Australia 4 down.

South Africa just have to turn it into a skirmish now, frenzied hand-to-hand fighting kind of thing

If Maxwell settles in it's surely over

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,046 ✭✭✭MFPM

This is some effort with the ball by SA...get Smith and they're really in the game.

  • Registered Users Posts: 164 ✭✭StormForce13

    Ahem!

Only 200 fewer runs than he managed last time out!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,806 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

👍there probably are better options, but he is a system player, kind of a yes man, he wasn't picked up for the SAT20 because he scores to slowly, good looking player on the eye, doesn't do it often enough, ye are back in this now 145/5, pity Klassen got out when he did, 250 could have been a winning score, 212 might be

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,714 ✭✭✭Jacovs

That went a lot closer than it should have. Another 50 runs wouldve made a massive difference in the end.

Ah well. My sunday just freed up.

Had a look back at predictions BBC got from different pundits

    https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/66768362

Only Daniel Norcross got close - he might have wanted to be more critical / dismissive of England as well

"I feel like England are a bit under-cooked. They haven't played enough ODIs in this cycle and haven't got enough clarity about what their best team is. They will still make the semis, along with India, Pakistan and Australia.

"I just love Pakistan's bowling attack, and Australia's all-rounders will be key in such a long tournament. They are the most well-rounded side.

"But, India will win it. They obviously have home advantage and they're also the most settled side. They've also got the benefit of having played more ODIs than any other team in this cycle."

Seems an odd decision by Pat Cummins to bowl first. Banking on dew later. Both teams unchanged.

India beginning to get going now. Agree with @Gillespy Australia should have batted first..

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,046 ✭✭✭MFPM

Gill gone. Important breakthrough for Australia.

    3 down now

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,806 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

    Didn't know this was a T20 match

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,046 ✭✭✭MFPM

Great response by Australia. Sharia will be livid, seeing off Starc/Hazelwood and getting out to Maxwell.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,046 ✭✭✭MFPM

Australia well in this. Another wicket now and India could be in a bit of trouble.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,806 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Sharma is a real class player, looked like he was on a different pitch, interesting now, could be 220 or 280, India under pressure for the first time in ages

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,806 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

178/5 now, jadeja poked around without any success, gone for 9, 1 boundary for India in 25 overs

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,806 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

203/6 now, Rahul blocked the life out of it for 66 off 107, with 1 four, India slumping on the biggest day

Can't play tuk tuk cricket and then get out.

Let's see how it pans out, they do have a brilliant attack that could defend whatever they get. It's the big downfall of six batsmen and five bowlers, only one way to play if you lose early wickets
