Experiences of paxlovid?

I'm taking it at the moment and have seen a rapid decrease of symptoms. Have been reading a lot about a covid rebound after finishing it though. Just wondering if anyone had any experience of it? Officially the number seems to be very low but there also seems to be a lot of speculation that those figures aren't accurate. Also wondering if anyone got the awful taste in there mouth from taking it and managed to find something to take it away? I'm eating nonstop trying to keep it down. Most nasty taste ever.

Joe Biden and his wife, Rochelle Walensky and Anthony Fauci and others all had so-called "rebound" injections from it, so I'd say it's common (if not probable) rather than "very low".

"Probable" would be putting it too high. Initial clinical trials suggested a rebound rate of 1-2%; 2-10% is now thought more likely; further studies are being done.

It's not a "rebound" unless you have a period where you test negative before testing positive again; a lot of the anecdotes about rebound involve people who never had a negative test.

Well so-called "clinical trials" are conducted to only every achieve one conclusion. They're hardly carried out in an open and honest way.

I would give much more gravitas to the fact that (nearly?) every prominent figure who has taken Paxlovid (€¥$£) has had a so-called "rebound" infection.

It seems like a particularly rubbish therapeutic to me.

Can you send me your database of all the "prominent figures" who have taken Paxlovid, broken down by those who did experience a rebound infection, those who did not, and those for whom we have no data? And can you tell us the source of the database, so that we can have some confidence that it includes, as claimed, every prominent figure who has taken Paxlovid?

No, of course he doesn't. The whole point of his stance is to reject the need for, or utility of, empirical evidence. Why would such a stance itself rest on evidence?

This is confirmation bias in action. You only heard about people who had rebound infections therefore they are the only people who took it. A very simple view of the world.

Similar to stating that every fatal car crash kills someone therefore every car crash kills someone.

Not true - I heard of each of the four having an infection, and then taking Paxlovid. In every case when I monitored this they had a "rebound" infection. All of these are prominent COVID dictators and hangers-on.

Change in taste seems like it's a common side effect, at least the HSE say it is. If you were prescribed by your GP, give them a call and ask if there are any over the counter medications (oral sprays or lozenges) you can take for the taste. Otherwise, I'd suggest a bag of ritchie mints or some other strong flavoured boiled sweets to keep the taste to a tolerable level.

None, I just happened upon the thread. I was more laughing at someone claiming that clinical trials are all a sham to say what big pharma want you to hear vs the 4 famous people one poster heard being conclusive proof that the majority of people have an issue.

I am not saying that whatever is being talked about is or is not happening, just the absurdity of the statement that 4 people is enough to claim an issue (but 3 wasn't).

Completely irrelevant who funds them… though in America the FDA is funded by the pharmaceutical companies who want to have their drugs approved… in Ireland the HPRA is mostly funded by the Department of Health.

Are you claiming that because of how they are funded they are biased in their findings?

Ok, so here’s the thing….

my OH is a Clinical Ops Lead for a large multinational Clinical Research Organisation, and she is a part of a global team of abut 20 COL’s heading up the global clinical trials of……..yep, you’ve guessed it, Paxlovid…..

she’s been in the clinical research industry for the last 15 years, and the level of oversight and meticulous inspection from all the various regulatory agencies surrounding Paxlovid is more than she’s ever seen in any if the previous studies she’s been involved in (mostly cancer studies prior to the arrival of Covid-19).

Absolutely no shortcuts will be tolerated and any and every adverse event is documented and reported out as per protocols like any other clinical trial. The level of scrutiny is quite intense because there is just so much publicity around these drugs.

Based on her knowledge, and the fact we are both home based and our desks are about 3-4 meters apart across the landing, I’m fairly privy to a lot of the goings on in the day to day happenings in the world of Paxlovid clinical trials, so I know what you are saying is absolute horse sh1t…..

I know you’ll probably still disagree with me as what I’m saying doesn’t fit your narrative or agenda, and for that I can’t help you. But know this, what you have been saying in this thread is absolute tosh…
