This is an open Match for members and members of other authorised target clubs.

Entry fee 20 euro.

This match is ideal for new members with classic rifles to take part in. Plenty of expert help to guide you along this fun match.

Out of curiosity, what counts as a classic rifle? Is it limited to old military rifles or do older sporting rifles count too?

Pre 1955

Unaltered...not sporterised

As issued to a recognised military or police force

As issued non altered trigger

2 point sling

It can not have a match or comp barrel.

No bipods or rear assists

Shot with open / battle sights...there are catagories for diopter classes

Always wondered why 1955 was chosen as the cutoff date.

I've less than no interest in classic stuff, but is it anything/something to do with the introduction and common use of AK-47, M16 and other similar type platform firearms? In other words a complete shift away from the Garand, Enfield style firearms?

Was thinking as much but then the AK platform predated that so would be acceptable, but indeed 1955 would preclude any scary "black rifles".

Most particularly the AR and later AK variants.

Not the FN FAL \enfield SLR, tho or the Spanish CTME,or French Mas49,or the Egyptin Hakim,or its Swedish version the Lungjman. Academic anyway now,as no new licenses will be issued for these classic semi autos,so another section of Irish shooting will go the way of the dinosaurs.
