From the last survey done here, the policy in DCEDIY is 3 days WFH / 2 days WFO per week.

You won't know if there is an anchor day, until you're assigned to your Unit.

    (Mine has no anchor day).

Also, days may change on a rota basis if staff cover is needed i.e. may not always be the same 2 or 3 days every week

Hi everyone, just wondering how many days are WFH in Dept. of Finance please? Thanks

Strongly contemplating trying to move over to Revenue on mobility at EO level, just wondering what their WFH is like and how long you might have to be in the office before you can avail from WFH?

DCEDIY is 2-3 in office depending on Unit you are in, usually fixed days (ie every Tues and Thurs for example) but worth asking for specific ones.

Hi folks - sorry to resurrect an old thread. Not sure if there was a more recent one on WFH and blended working.

Wondering if anyone knows the WFH policy in the Office of the Attorney General?

    Cheers.

    @bonsai3

New seating arrangements start next week.

Each division has an anchor day. Every unit is required to do two days on site.

You won't know your anchor day until you know the division and you won't know your floating day until you find out your unit.

3 days a week WFH is what we have in DCEDIY/DCDE and seems to be here to stay.

Sorry, only saw this now. AGO are either 2 days WFH or 3 days WFH, not sure which. If you still need to know, ping me and I'll find out for you.

Kinda off topic but there was a trial in some departments of allowing staff build up flexi time while working from home.Must be over 2 year's ago since it was announced.

Has there been any update to this or is it still on a trial basis or any time frame for when a decision is made.

Seems a long time for a trial to run.

I've been working in DCDE the last 3 years almost and it's always been the case that we could build up flexi at home. Defence was the same before that. Not sure if it official or in trial as such but like I say it's always been the case while I've been here

Revenue does allow flexi to be built up at home, especially as some units are 4 days per week wfh (otherwise would be too difficult to build up any flexitime I guess).

my sister works for social protection. She works one day in the office, but can’t accrue flexi time while WFH

They tried to introduce two days, but as they announced it without agreement with the unions, they had to row back on that

Individual sections have their own rules (ie some are 2/3 WFH days) but no one can accrue flexi at home

Central Statistics Office (2 days onsite per week). Flexitime accrual was restored for us in July 2022 on a "six month trial basis". Flexi accrual only allowed while attending the office. The trial was made permanent in early 2023.

The question of accrual from home has been raised by staff a few times over the last two years, but there seems no interest from senior management in allowing that. Flexi leave can only be used against home days. New entrants to some grades (Stats, APs & upwards) no longer have flexi accrual (ty Haddington Road).

It can make the office days long if/when trying to work up a day, especially when annual leave is in short supply! Added to this, all CSO offices now close at 5:30pm on Fridays, a measure introduced in 2023 to reduce our carbon footprint.

Article from April 2022 giving a bit more background.

It wasn't a trial, as such, it was the whole blended working thing. When it was introduced, it was left up to individual employers whether or not to allow flexi accrual at home. The blended working trial concluded and it's in place now; every employer has it's own policy, because of course they do. Some allow flexi accrual from home, some don't.

Fórsa has been remarkably quiet on all of this, except for when DSP tried to force people back an extra day, but it's mad to me that all other things being equal, for the majority of non-public-facing staff, some places allow 1 day WFH, others 4 days, some allow flexi accrual, some don't.

Yeah, could never understand how it's not across the board. DFA allow building up flexi at home as well.

Some departments have work that is more easily quantifiable, and better tools for taking measurements.

I'm allowed work up flexi hours when wfh, my wife is not. It's daft!

    I'm partial to your abracadabra,

I'm raptured by the joy of it all.

Some departments have senior management who are fiercely resistant to change.

We're talking about being able to build up flexi when WFH. The type of work you are doing or the amount of it is neither here nor there.
