    #MEGA MAKE EUROPE GREAT AGAIN

Well the new minister for defence has been announced so we can rule that one out - after that I’m just on tender hooks 😀

Honestly, has Irish (worldwide?) marketing got so dumbed down that this is all they can come up with, the same tired faces. Are shoppers that gullible that Kathryn Thomas's face will sell them products? Maybe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,992 ✭✭✭✭freshpopcorn

I honestly feel brand's feel like they need these influencers now to sell products.

However I wonder do they increase sales by much at the end of the day.

"To say none of this damaged him or ultimately contributed to his downfall is essentially saying you feel his appearances helped his cause."

    It really isn't.

Well to be fair she’s one of only 4 women ever in the history of the world to ever give birth; the other three being Helen McEntee, Lottie Ryan, and Jennifer Zamparelli. You probably didn’t hear about any of this as none of them ever talk about it…….

Ages ago, I heard an interview with Richie Sadlier on the Second Captains podcast. He's a psychotherapist who works with young people and sex education is one of the modules that's covered. He was talking about all the porn that youngsters are watching on their phones and what they've learned from that. So, him doing a programme on RTE about sex isn't as weird as you'd think. https://blackfortinstitute.ie/leinster-therapists/

Richie is a specialist adolescent psychotherapist who works with young people (aged 12 – 24) and their parents in his practice in Sandyford. He is experienced in working with issues around parental separation, school refusal, grief/loss, anger, anxiety, personal growth & development, self-esteem, suicide, bullying, self-confidence and sexuality.

In addition to managing his own practice, Richie delivers six-week modules to Transition Year students in St Benildus college in both mental fitness and sexual health throughout the year. He also writes a column on mental health in The Irish Times and regularly speaks in secondary schools promoting positive well-being and help-seeking behaviour among the students. Richie also holds an MA in Psychotherapy and a HDip in Counselling & Psychotherapy. With a background in sport, Richie also holds a BSc in Sports Science & Coaching.

He is an accredited member of the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP)

Not just products, but Snacks. I wonder what her bootcamp teaches about eating snacks between proper meals?

It’s very lazy marketing but females in particular seem to love the “influencers”. I‘d like to see some real analysis of the impact her (or any influencer’s) endorsement has on sales and the value this has provided but it would be nigh on impossible to get that from the brands themselves.

I can assure you folks that that kind of attitude in endemic in the hallowed halls of Montrosia, and indeed other areas of the 'privileged classes'

I hear the most asked question asked of these 'personalities' on return from some junket or other is 'HI Brenda how was Orlando, did you get 'looked after'?

So I have always wondered this. Do they hate where they work, the job they do or the company the work for? I love some insight from someone who's worked in RTÉ or is currently working there. Do they even watch their own product?

Cynically I believe he is just selling his product. I see this with a lot of NGO's often they are selling their product so they can get a look in, e.g. Bodywhys and AsIAm, I am sure their are genuine people out there but often it just smacks of money for nothing.

I know a retired radio producer, no end of complaints and stories about how the place was run.

Also about how some of the talent changed over the years. From being the 'presenter' to being the 'product', and everything being about how to promote the 'product'. Looking back now, this appears to coincide with the NK era.

And one more word, deluded. Thinking he had a relationship with the children of Ireland..

You shouldn't wonder buddy, based on my experience its the same in all biggish semi state companies.

what one gets is a nest of scones or 'lifers as they are referred to, whose sole aim is to do as little as possible and maximise their 'conditions'.

These are the types who wouldn't do a smidgen over and above their absolute minimum and if problems arise they will be of zero help.

They are in every company boys and girls particularly the places like RTE where they run to the Unions if anyone says boo to them.

now nothing against Unions but I would wager that they spend more resources defending wasters than the those productive staff members who are genuinely have an issue.

I don't know why but I can't get my head around attending Richie's Clinic for counselling for myself or a teenage child on anything related to sexuality.

Maybe I'm doing him a disservice.

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,975 ✭✭✭podgeandrodge

I wasn't questioning whether he could talk about it, more making the point that once you have a book out and you are known for anything (e.g. sports in this case), you get the RTE gig. I'm sure there are thousands of psychotherapists without books and other incomes, that wouldn't be looked at. That's my point, the incestuous RTE family type of thing. (Still maintain that clip of him asking teenagers what they wanted to know about sex was fúckin weird looking, and by the looks on the kids faces they would probably agree).

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,975 ✭✭✭podgeandrodge

And RTE jump at the chance "wow look a celeb, let's get him on". It's always the Sadliers, Keith Duffys etc, never someone that could really do with the gig.

The more I hear about the apparent goodwill towards RT, the more he appears as a politician.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,225 ✭✭✭Expunge

A bit of a combination of all of the above, I believe. I know a few who work there and after a few pints, you'd hear the moaning.

All the management are useless c*nt's, they don't know what they're doing etc. I don't believe the people I know listen/watch a minute of the output.

A new refrain from them is Backhurst better effing fix it but don't be going near MY terms and conditions, none of this has to do with me.

I'm not sure what can be done with this institution short of nuking it.

I am guessing the are all the same from the top to the bottom. It disappointing, so many people want an opportunity and RTÉ are just gliding by.

Busy day in London; and yet, despite me being the only Irish person my hosts have met in person in (likely) months not one of them asked me about Tubs, or did I know what date he was staring in GB News, BBC, or ITV. Intriguing.

To read the Irish newspapers rags you’d think it was the only thing on the minds of the British public these days…….bonkers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Breaking news: an unnamed source has said Tubridy could be in for a big money megabucks move to VMTV for one night only to revise their own efforts at an alternative toy show, working title is:

“Mr. Tubs the Toyman’s Tantalizingly Toptastic Trendy and Terrific Toy Show on Television Tonight”

Another unnamed source close to the star said “VMTV are very clever, they realize the opportunity not just to show this in Ireland, but also to sell it on to kids in the US, UK, Australia,….every country in the world really because Tubs is so beloved everywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is to become a pay per view event - VMTV and Ryan could charge €1,000 per home and people would gladly pay it such is the demand to have The Toyman back on air. If only 100,000 homes in Ireland buy it that’s €100,000,000 - and that’s just ireland, think of the global revenue! It’s not bad for 2 hours of The Toyman’s time - but my only concern is will he have 2 hours to spare with all the other offers coming in at the moment.”

The saddest part is if I sent that in to RSVP and the other filler rags etc. there’s probably a good chance it would be published.

I'd say he's about as qualified as Katherine Thomas is on physical well being.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 151 ✭✭seanrambo87

Ah I see. Simples. I'm going to write a book about that which I'm not qualified and watch the offers roll in. Hey maybe Tube-writ-€ should write a book about presenting prime time television. It might just work for him too.

I agree with you fully but I would watch The Lover's Guide with Eamon Dunphy or George Hook. Now that would actually be gold for RTE. Not listening to a drip like Sadlier trying to get down with the kids.

Maybe he could host a new programme for the Autumn....Ireland greatest Snake oil salesperson.

Wasn't Amy Huberman also doing a podcast for Aldi mammies? Wonder how many listeners that one got. These celebs are all so relatable though, and not detached from reality and obscenely rich for doing jack **** except riding the Dublin-centered media gravy-train. They all need a literal good kick up the hole, smug, arrogant gits.
