We've just purchased a Veo camera (hurling) so will be interesting to see how it goes.

As the designated cameraman I for one will be glad to see games properly again and not from a tiny screen!

will you be the one setting the parameters for the fouls/puckouts/frees/points etc?

Not sure yet, but previously analysis was out-sourced. Why, any advice?

    Ahh ok.

No i was just wondering if you had any info/tips, as we will be using Veo this season...

What exent was the outsourcing company going with their analysis?

Someone will still have to do manual analysis (tagging) on a match if using VEO; whether it's with VEO (I hope not), or a software solution. If manual tagging on VEO, it's far too clunky/slow to do any sort of decent performance analysis. It's a good Video Analysis tool though for clipping etc.

Would it not have been good to keep an external analysis company (who I assume provided reports), but also have the decent VEO footage?

The tagging is done once and it carries over for every game?

    Clunky/slow ? how so ??

In comparison to the specialised analysis apps which are fluid.

They produce top quality raw data which can be exported easily and used elsewhere. VEO is pretty much all held in the site itself and is more video based rather than video AND data based, which is what's needed.

On VEO you're simply tagging events only to have them for a video clip really. You can't put together meaningful cumulative data etc. from it, which is what's the most essential stuff these days (which is why I was surpised Dr. Nick's teams moved away from having a data provider since almost all county teams anyway are using them now, and I first-hand know of over 100 clubs using them).

What company provides those cameras? Who would use those ? Top Inter county teams?

"Raw data" - What would that mean?

Personally, i was scripting stats/data(?) for our senior team from the sideline - puckouts won/lost , which side the puckouts were going etc..

Who was winning/giving away frees , who was scoring/missing etc.....

Its fairly full on for the 60 mins , so i reckon if i do the same this season , added to the Veo, the management will have what they need?

Generally it’s the team that does the recording - But at Intercounty/College so many matches are streamed/on TV now that full footage is often available those ways.

At club, generally the clubs do the recording of the match to save money but I also know of clubs who use VEO camera and send that footage to their provider.

Pretty much all top Intercounty Teams now. All then would have their own analyst(s) to do live data and also use the data provided to them from the 3rd party.

Raw data being all of it in Excel Format. It allows for ease of use and also to manipulate it into other data points.

If you ever wanted I could show you examples.

Big money in it now too!

The trend/fad is for every club to do the pre game analysis ..

Personally, i think its a great help and is a big benefit for teams, and players, at senior club hurling/camogie , and obviously higher levels.

That would be great if you could! 👍️

It’s genuinely essential now. People talk about S&C so much but in reality, Performance Analysis is more important in particular from around Minor and Above

    Will PM you
