95 year old woman with dementia critical after being tazered by Australian police

This is disgraceful. A 95 year old woman with dementia was tazered by police because she was not responding to police commands to put down a steak knife she had in her hand. She fractured her skull when she fell and her family do not believe she will survive, the police constable who deployed the tazer has been suspended

Not sure 'a smack of a baton on the knife' is a reasonable expectation though (generally speaking, because it appears you're not speaking specifically about the situation with the elderly woman here). It reminds me of the argument that police in the US should just shoot a person in the leg to immobilize them.
And batons absolutely can be lethal.
