Hi all. Anyone else up for interview for this campaign? I'm not familiar with being called straight to interview.

Does anyone know if there are other stages after this interview or is it onto a panel based on the interview?

    Hi Civil Cybil,

Im in for this too. I have interview next week.. not sure what the order will be as the booklet says they may use a number of different tests.

Heres hoping there hasn't been much applicants and we get an oom after the interview. Im guessing tehy are eager to get bums on seats in Revenue as they seem to be severely understaffed. Takes ages to get a response from revenue at the moment.

Been hoping to get into Revenue for a while.

I missed deadline for this :(

Would it be mostly wfh in Revenue? I'll have to keep an eye out for the next competition.

there will likely be one next year as the booklet says the panel will last 12 months

Interview went OK/ well I thought. Lasted 50 mins, 3 nice interviewers. I felt they gave me adequate time to answer questions. I would say have 2 examples of each competency ready. They didn't ask me anything technical about Revenue.

Hi Saulgudman, I posted a bit about Interview a few mins ago if it's any help to you. Good Luck with interview, the panel were nice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭WednesdayGirl

    Hi Mopsy06,

I think you will be fine, I found the Interviewers nice. They did ask a fair few questions but mostly competency based so have those ready

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 mopsy06

    Thanks @WednesdayGirl.

I think I'm prepared but you can never judge with these types of interviews. I actually have two interviews tomorrow, the other is the Revenue internal EO competition.

Wish it was all done and dusted now 😁

@mopsy06 that's a busy day for you so! Best of luck to you and let us know how you went

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Saulgudman

2 interviews in one day for the same role. Thats fair going. Please let us know how they went if you have the energy? were there any odd questions that threw you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 mopsy06

Hope everything went well today for you.

They threw a good few audit technical questions at me. Some you wouldn't know unless you worked in audit. I'd be very surprised if I have pass it tbh.

Has anyone been allocated to social welfare? I’ve been allocated to them as EO and I’m wondering if flexi time and remote work is available? I still don’t know the location. I was transferred there after being provisionally allocated to another department.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭WednesdayGirl

I think you be better asking that in the general EO thread, this one is for Revenue EO :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭WednesdayGirl

I think flexi and remote options are available in most [not all] civil service EO roles

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭NigelB770

Does anyone know when the results of the interviews are expected?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭NigelB770

I didn't get any technical audit questions asked of me, I don't know was that because I didn't have an auditing or accountancy background. They focused on the competencies but I felt they asked questions in a very awkward manner, the questions often were almost poised in a way as they didn't want me to go through an example I had of dealing with a similar situation but asking me what I thought of this and that. Just thought they were very strange questions for a competency based interview

Does anyone know when the interviews are over and results out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 191 ✭✭CivilCybil

No clue. Although there's no word of anyone with an interview next week so if the interviews are finished it might be end of next week or the following week. But really it's anyone's guess!

Interviews were running for almost 3 weeks and they were ending on Friday 19th. Seems to be a push on to get people. I'd imagine results will be out within the next week or two alright

Hard to know how I did, spoke to another person who I found out interviewed for it too and she thought the same, thought they posed the questions in a very strange way. But anyway we'll see what happens. Hopefully results will be out soon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 mopsy06

I heard 3 weeks for the results but don't know how true that is. Hopefully by next week we'll hear something 🤞

This competition is so different to previous years. Straight to interview, no sign of an OOM & the threads are quiet.

I wonder is that a sign that not many people applied or if they’re trying a new method.

I found the interview very tough & nothing like I had imagined. I don’t have high hopes but I have my fingers crossed.

    Hopefully results out soon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37 mopsy06

I was thinking the same thing that not many applied and that's why it was straight to interview

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭NigelB770

I can't believe how quiet this thread is on it. Not sure what the reasoning is for that.

I found the interview very strange too, but have heard from another since that did it that they also found it strange in so far as both the questions asked and the way in which they were poised. Again like yourself I have no idea how I did, just hoping for the best.

But speaking to two people I know in revenue already the reasoning for the campaign this way seems to be that they need bums on seats and pretty quickly at that. There seems to have been a huge number of retirements over this past 18 months. One guy I know was told by his manager to expect new people on his team by mid summer, so I'd imagine if interview results are out next week there will be offers pretty quickly starting after that. He said if it was normal campaign they wouldn't be expecting people until maybe September or October at the earliest by the time all the aptitude tests were factored in plus time take for offers and clearance etc. So seems to be just a real push to get people and fast.

Fingers crossed for all involved anyway. Hopefully the offers come in 😊

Results are in! I passed. I wonder is the order of merit national or for the locality.

    The email says

"I am pleased to inform you that you have been placed number xx on the overall panel of successful candidates"

    Fingers crossed for everyone else

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5 kilkengal

Same! Although I just got a promotion in my current public sector job so I’ll be passing this one up if it comes to me. Good luck to everyone!

    Passed (thankfully).

    Congrats to those who passed.

Another waiting game now, I wonder how many people are on the panel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 boardswex

    Passed TG.

Does anyone know how it works for this? What panel numbers are usually reached in the year? Why do they give the national OOM instead of your chosen location (s)?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 191 ✭✭CivilCybil

From the job description they start the three year training in September, January and April (I think!)

So I'm guessing they'll have a set number of people to start the training and pull them from the panel as each start date arises.

But that's just speculation and guess work on my part!

ETA I found the description in the candidate booklet.

"Executive Officers will be required to complete Revenue’s trainee auditor programme. This includes practical training carrying out Revenue interventions; and may include an academic qualification on a course accredited by a recognised academic institution and/or professional body, on which you will be required to successfully complete all relevant Exams. Courses commence in September 2023, January 2024 and April 2024. The training covers many areas of tax and customs law and procedures, will take approximately three years to complete and is specifically aimed at providing Executive Officers with the technical skills to undertake the full range of Revenue compliance work. This training is delivered via a blended delivery model and there will be an element of in-person classroom attendance required. "

Best of luck to all that made the panel :)

I just fell short but there's always next time!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭NigelB770

Passed also, did a lot better than i expected. The number you are given is your overall number in the whole competition it says in the email so not your number for your chosen County. So if you're number 100 for instance you're likely much higher in your own county. Hopefully offers start going out soon. 👍

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Saulgudman

Passed. I just about scraped through on one of them but placed inside top 60 overall. Fingers crossed they need a lot of EOs.

Congrats. That's great. Surely they will reach well over 60/70 EOs in the year ? Does anyone have any idea how many they reached last year or is it the same process?

I just came across this thread so thought I would say hello!

I got in the top 10 so I am delighted. Can't wait to start now. I worked as a TCO in Revenue years ago and I am really looking forward to it again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭NigelB770

What county are you in for? I got in the top 10 too 😀

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 530 ✭✭✭scullersky

First Choice is Dublin, second Cork. But I only want Dublin. What area are you in for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17 newnewnewnew

Anyone know what way it works with offers, do they give you much details on the role, what the training expectation is etc? I'm more than happy to do the tax tech training but I did see somewhere about a level 7 possibly being required which I dont realistically know with family life I'd have the time to commit to and as I'm currently in a job I'd need details of what the expectation is before accepting. You know how normally in an interview you can ask questions, it wasnt that kind of interview. Or even with days I currently have 3 days at home and wouldn't wana lose that.

Has anyone ever appealed their result? If so what was the outcome?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55 ✭✭Saulgudman

    FYI

If you email the address on the email they will give you the positions for your chosen county/counties.

I emailed yesterday and got mine back today.

Anyone know what the clearance process is and how long it takes?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28 tomekJ

Hi All, "Courses commence in September 2023, January 2024 and April 2024", does anyone know if we are offered to start in September can that be postponed and start in January 2024? January would suit me better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭NigelB770

Garda vetting primarily, takes 4 to 6 weeks usually to complete. Also likely to contact your current employer for a reference, most don't give references now anyway but will respond to say we can confirm that you worked here from this date to that date and that's all they need.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭NigelB770

Not sure, from what I understand there's only so much work you can do until you have your tax qualifications so I'd imagine they will want you enrolled and doing your training ASAP as they need staff and bums on seats fairly fast due to large numbers of retirements this past 18 months

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16 Pen100

Does anyone think offers will go out this week? Or is that wishful thinking 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 63 ✭✭NigelB770

I'd say they could be starting very soon if training starts in September. Allowing 6 weeks for Garda vetting, getting references sorted and allowing people to hand in sufficient notice to existing employers too

Let me know if you find out more details please, I am in similar situation.
