I have emailed a few times and no joy. Meanwhile I received a bill for 45 cent as we were in credit for last two bills due to the refund of the old annual charge. I wonder what will happen if I dont pay up?

Further increases again in addition to the recent brown bin charges. Refuse collection and resulting littering & fly tipping really getting out of hand with no reasonable offering for low usage households.

I cancelled my Panda account of 7 years a couple of months ago after they announced the brown bin charges as it was increasing my yearly totals over 48%. Moved the the only other operator in my area City Bins, for a yearly fixed charge of €175 provided I don't exceed 30kg per month for the black bin which shouldn't be a problem in my case, so far so good.

    We used their bin wash service for the first time, supposedly costing €8 a pop, according to the website;

The bin wash is mentioned on the invoice but there's no actual charge added.

    Is this a freebie now?

Got email last week that my quarterly bill is going up to €97 (currently €87.51).

Anyone know if the charging for the brown bin is on top of this?

I've had a few brown bin lifts the last 6 weeks but no additional charge yet!

I have been looking for the alternative scheme based on lift charges and weight and this is what I have found out for Dublin South Panda

    Service Charge €            90 €          annual charge

    240L Waste Lift €         4.35 €

    Waste Lift Per Kg €         0.31 €

    240L Recycling Lift €         1.30 €

    Recycling Lift per Kg €       0.065 €

    140L Comp Lift €         3.08 €

    Compost Lift per Kg €       0.188 €

Just got an email in from Panda. From 1Sept not only charges €12.50 per waste bin but also 0.01 plus vat per kilo.

I pay service charge €145 per year and €12.50 per black waste bin. Few months ago started charging €4.80 for the brown garden food waste bin.

Last year introduced a green bin lift charge of .85 plus vat 0.80 plus vat per kilo. I assume due to they charging brown and green people are not separating the bin waste. This is getting silly will now.

Panda is the only choice for Fingal County Council. Only once licence given for waste collection. Any other collectors say they are not allowed to collect. No competition.

When you seperate your waste you are still getting charged more than if you did not. This is a money racket.

Check out other providers, I'm in Swords and with Greyhound since skipping out on Panda earlier this year. So there are other options in Fingal

If you do switch, look around the bargains forum for referral codes

Also watch out because Panda will charge you something like €50 to collect their bins if you switch

What area of Fingal are you in, I'm in Clonsilla, D15 and City Bin also serve our area. Switched to them in early May after Panda advised they were introducing the per lift charge for the brown bin which as a low black bin user but regular brown user would have increased my annual costs by nearly 49%.

Happy with City Bin thus far, paid €175 for a year in advance and that covers everything provided I don't exceed 30kg per month for the black bin, anything in excess of that threshold is charged at 30c per kg. Big advantage also with City Bin is that their brown bin is the full 240 litre instead of Panda's small 120 litre size.

Would you not sign up to the monthly plan then. 185.50 a year. I signed up a while back at 16.75 a month.

I was paying a service charge, lift charge, per kilo charge for all 3 bins and it was costing me about 100 euro and more every 2 months. Always thought the brown was free, so was packing it with grass, also thought the green was free. I was wrong haha.

There's a 40 ish kg limit for general waste and unlimited green and brown.

Well they will not be taking the bins as they are council bins we have paid for years ago. I am sure they will try to charge €30 or €50 as previous posts for cleaning and rebranding. Will check out others.

The waste levy will be brought in for everyone seemly. 0.01 plus vat per weight across the board including the waste bin lift. €10 per tonne.

So average 40kg bin will be an extra I added my bins up from last year to this and I think we are paying €185.13 as I recycle a few times during the year and separate the waste in the bins. I did not want to go pay per weight. That is why I am paying a large amount for the black waste bin lift already.

We paid c 185 for previous year with all the separate charges but have signed up for 'all in' rate recently. I really hate the tiny brown bin we get which I use only for garden waste. They offered a second for free which I turned down but would have loved a proper sized one. So back to another weight charge with this latest surcharge? They had put a bin cleaning charge on my last bill... we defo did not get that and when brown bin came in first I never used it but got a charge for doing so! I used go to dump with garden waste but decided to spare my new car the burden when worked out full cost of trip to dump.

If you bins are collected and you left them out the next day they go around and clean the bins. If you did not ask for it then you should not be charged.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭cobham

Yes I noticed neighbour's bin was cleaned on a different day. Our bins are never left out once emptied. I see Greyhound have a decent sized bin for garden waste/composting but annual charge higher after initial offers.

Anyone avail of this? Is it an extra physical green or brown bin or an extra collection of existing bin?

Extra bin. We have two green bins.

Pity. Tight enough in the garden without another bin

Is there something funny going on at Panda? I got charged treble the usual amount this month. When I try to login to check my account, it says I have to register again, and then that it doesn't have any addresses linked to my account. Online chat isn't available. When I try to phone them, I get put on hold, and then get a message about 'number of calls have exceeded licence', which sounds like they've overload their contact centre systems.

Don't know if related. I've noticed that they're registering 2 pickups for me on my black bin.

I have one black bin. This week I had a pile of polystyrene (so weighs nearly nothing) and put out the black bin. They've logged a black bin pickup of 9Kg and 20Kg. I mentioned it to them last week. They said they'd take a note. Seeing your post there reminded me to check it out and there are two bins registered for this week. Even 9Kg for this week sounds pretty heavy for a bin that was 80% polystyrene.

I was charged my monthly DD twice today. I did manage to get through on the phone after several attempts. I think they have had a problem with their billing system. Earlier in the week I received a message telling me that the DD would be late hitting my account. The person I spoke to today told me that I had been a month behind paying their invoices (their fault not mine) and that they were now catching up.

They sent me a statement and it confirms what they said.

I got an extra brown bin as generate so much garden waste despite composting kitchen veg waste. It would suit better if the brown bin was a decent size then one would be enough and take up less room in garden but they only offer the smaller one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,797 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

    Or collect it more often...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,571 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

It turned out that Panda took the December direct debit early, which along with some bin washing charges, made it look like a treble payment. It's strange that they didn't notify customers proactively of this error

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭cobham

I still get a paper bill and no direct debit. I had a bin wash charge added that I never asked for or had.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 474 ✭✭UrbanFox

    In DLRCOCO area.

We use composting bins as we have plenty of room in the garden. They work quite well.

We never put out a brown bin but Panda had to supply it as part of their service.

We threatened to move to another company. They agreed to delete all charges relating to the brown bin. Try it

    Hi all.

I just sent an email to Panda saying that due to moving out I do not need their services anymore. As a result, they cancelled my online account (do not be able to delete my bank account details) and have totally control over my bank account continuing charging me for nothing. Got an sms about levy, paid yearly charge up to February next year.... How can I stop them doing this? I do not see an option in my account as Panda direct debit to cancel it. It looks like is very difficult to get rid of them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,571 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

You can cancel the DD with your bank. Some of the bank online services allow you to do this, or contact your bank in writing.

A friend on mine is so sick of these increased charges he burns a lot of rubbish in his fireplace and flushes a lot of food down the Jax.

I am presently with Panda Waste living in Ballinteer, presently their is €52 standard charge onmy A/C since circa 2 weeks ago, i have not had a black waste bin collection since august, i am thinking of switching to Greyhound waste as there charges are clear circa €20 per month including a monthly allowance of circa 42kg waste, plus free recycling and compast bin collection, so instead of waiting for my general waste bin to fill up i can put out every month with certainty of price etc.

Do i have to pay this €52 quarterly charge to panda if i switch and what about new bins or can i use old ones nearly sure they were DLRCC BINS appreciate advice pls

I am still charged by them. I left on the 8th of December and still getting bin collections texts and money out from my account. It looks like there is a closing account charge, €30 it is their policy. We have no rights, policies...I paid second year €64 for service charge, up to next February, nu refund, is their policy...I sent them an email a month beforehand. Even my bank can do anything about it. They took control of my bank account.
