Don't know if answered previously but luke some on here I find this chocolate they use now frankly disgusting. Is there any company selling chocolate like we used to have ?

Surely there is a market for it

M&S Belgium chocolate, good but you'll pay premium for it.

The Cadbury stuff that's in the kids eggs is basically inedible to me, the Lindt stuff similar, talk about style over substance.

Lidl had great value in Easter eggs yesterday. Reeces peanut butter, cadbury range. Most of them were 2.99 for the pretty big ones. They also had small ones for 99c

In the medium eggs do you get an actual bar of whatever the brand is or is it still a tiny packet of chocolate buttons?

The "medium" eggs are tinchy tiny. The buttons/smarties/caramel all just had a few sweets in the egg itself.

The "large" eggs had bars or packets of sweets in them.

The old small eggs have effectively been rebranded as medium, and medium as the new "large" - a joke!

M&S have reduced the prices of some of their eggs - the 210g extremely chocolately range (chocolate caramel latte, dark orange etc) was 10.50 - now 7.50 if in the market for a more expensive / gifty egg

Anyone have any idea where I can get a Star Wars themed egg? Can't see them anywhere here. I see Kinder are selling large mandalorian themed eggs in the UK but can't get them delivered here, thanks.

They did the same with selection boxes , there is no small selection boxes anymore, they have been relabeled medium.

None have full size bars anymore. Last year or the year before they were calling ones "medium", which would have been considered very small years ago. So for 1 euro you would get a creme egg easter egg, full creme egg and an egg of about 100g, or a full kit kat and a ~100g egg. These have reduced in size but still called "medium". I think all the cadbury mediums are under 100g, while kit kat and rolos are a bit over. But the rolo and kit kat are now snack size bars. Aero and smarties are also nestle and over 100g

The nearest town to me was wiped out on Wednesday apart from the mini eggs in SuperValu 5 for €5, people running around like the toilet roll saga in covid days

I thiught I’d chance Iceland and bingo they had loads and the place was empty

Dunnes has 5 packs creme eggs half price €1.75

The supermarkets seem to have become really good at making sure that there isnt any excess stock of Easter Eggs left over on Easter Monday. It seems the same with the Christmas selection boxes too, I couldnt find a selection box anywhere locally 3 days before Christmas, they were all sold out.

Did anyone else find the small eggs embarrassingly small to give to anyone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,553 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

Well they are cheaper than a bar of chocolate at 5 for €5 so it’s no surprise they are tiny, good for a children’s sports club as a token thing and that’s about it

Nah the last few years those 5 for a fiver were bigger...around 130g. Plus you'd get a couple of funsize bars , the caramel egg had a caramel egg as the bar.

This year it was the historically small eggs that were sold as medium eggs.

The "large" eggs were good value when Tesco had them at 2.50

the size reduction was covered earlier in the thread where the previous mediums are now called large etc, the price of everything has shot up with price gouging so why wouldnt easter eggs be included, i wouldnt expect anything less from the big retailers
