whats the limit per card on these does anyone know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 149 ✭✭Snow Crash

The "medium" sized ones are limited to 15 per customer as I was allowed to get 15 on an online order and then when I got more eggs on the same the €1 offer offer on a different order they charged me full price for them when the online delivery arrived even though it said I'd be getting them for €1 each when I was finalized my second order.

Tesco do not show many on offer online, but in the shop they are 1euro and 2.50 for what I would call medium. The 1euro are still better value than the 2.50 ones, i.e. more weight per euro

    Nice chocolate but too expensive

Never saw the ones over 200g

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 579 ✭✭✭dasa29

I agree in that Kinder is nice chocolate but it has always been Expensive and the best time to get them would be in the week after Easter when any left stock is reduced to clear.

3 for €9 "larger" eggs in SuperValu

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 579 ✭✭✭dasa29

You are right but it is a four day Flash deal From 23/03/23 till 26/03/23 and only open to Supervalu Real Rewards Customers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,386 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

The 3euro "large" yorkie egg is 242g, the cadbury ones are all under 200g. The cadbury small (medium!) are under 100g, while rolo and kitkat are over 100g.

I used to buy them as a cheap form of chocolate, you used to get a proper creme egg and ~100g egg for 1euro. But I will just hold out for the 100g milka bars to lower in price again, they go to 1euro the odd time, more usually just 1.25 these days though.

Tubs like heroes or celebrations are probably the cheapest way to get branded chocolate these days (when on offer of course).

This year the "medium" eggs are tiny eggs with a few chocolates inside them. No bar. Shrinkflation strikes again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 814 ✭✭✭mydiscworld

Also find it highly suss that Cadbury and Nestle brought out almost exactky the same smaller eggs at the same time, after years and years of larger ones. No way they didn't plan it together

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,241 ✭✭✭mel123

I got caught with an online delivery of 'medium' eggs. My god, they are disgrace

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,467 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

I'm dreading seeing what the 'small' ones are like

Regarding Kinder Eggs, better value getting the 2 for €12 ones than the slightly bigger one for €10 on its own

I got one of the small Cadbury ones recently and it was disgusting. Really sweet and barely tasted like chocolate. I struggled through half and gave the rest to my husband.

The small ones definitely used to be a good way to get a good value chocolate hit, but no longer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,110 ✭✭✭xpletiv

Still decent amount of the 99c eggs in lidl near me.

Dunnes seem limited and overly expensive (as ever).

Thinking tesco is best option this year price and selection wise myself.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,359 ✭✭✭DubDJ

Lidl seems to have medium Nestle eggs for €1. Kit Kat and Rolo were ones I found. Some of the small Cadbury ones are also on offer between €1 - €1.50.

Large Easter Eggs for €3 Tesco

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 282 ✭✭the_galway_fry

Don't know if answered previously but luke some on here I find this chocolate they use now frankly disgusting. Is there any company selling chocolate like we used to have ?

Surely there is a market for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,544 ✭✭✭✭Supercell

M&S Belgium chocolate, good but you'll pay premium for it.

The Cadbury stuff that's in the kids eggs is basically inedible to me, the Lindt stuff similar, talk about style over substance.

Lidl had great value in Easter eggs yesterday. Reeces peanut butter, cadbury range. Most of them were 2.99 for the pretty big ones. They also had small ones for 99c

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

In the medium eggs do you get an actual bar of whatever the brand is or is it still a tiny packet of chocolate buttons?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,148 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

The "medium" eggs are tinchy tiny. The buttons/smarties/caramel all just had a few sweets in the egg itself.

The "large" eggs had bars or packets of sweets in them.

The old small eggs have effectively been rebranded as medium, and medium as the new "large" - a joke!

M&S have reduced the prices of some of their eggs - the 210g extremely chocolately range (chocolate caramel latte, dark orange etc) was 10.50 - now 7.50 if in the market for a more expensive / gifty egg

Anyone have any idea where I can get a Star Wars themed egg? Can't see them anywhere here. I see Kinder are selling large mandalorian themed eggs in the UK but can't get them delivered here, thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 471 ✭✭Bodan

They did the same with selection boxes , there is no small selection boxes anymore, they have been relabeled medium.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,386 ✭✭✭✭rubadub

None have full size bars anymore. Last year or the year before they were calling ones "medium", which would have been considered very small years ago. So for 1 euro you would get a creme egg easter egg, full creme egg and an egg of about 100g, or a full kit kat and a ~100g egg. These have reduced in size but still called "medium". I think all the cadbury mediums are under 100g, while kit kat and rolos are a bit over. But the rolo and kit kat are now snack size bars. Aero and smarties are also nestle and over 100g

No eggs left in my local Aldi today and they werent sure if they are getting more before Sunday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,215 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

The nearest town to me was wiped out on Wednesday apart from the mini eggs in SuperValu 5 for €5, people running around like the toilet roll saga in covid days

I thiught I’d chance Iceland and bingo they had loads and the place was empty

    The internet isn’t for everyone

Dunnes has 5 packs creme eggs half price €1.75

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,717 ✭✭✭✭Muahahaha

The supermarkets seem to have become really good at making sure that there isnt any excess stock of Easter Eggs left over on Easter Monday. It seems the same with the Christmas selection boxes too, I couldnt find a selection box anywhere locally 3 days before Christmas, they were all sold out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭bromley52

Did anyone else find the small eggs embarrassingly small to give to anyone?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,215 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

Well they are cheaper than a bar of chocolate at 5 for €5 so it’s no surprise they are tiny, good for a children’s sports club as a token thing and that’s about it

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,148 ✭✭✭Princess Calla

Nah the last few years those 5 for a fiver were bigger...around 130g. Plus you'd get a couple of funsize bars , the caramel egg had a caramel egg as the bar.

This year it was the historically small eggs that were sold as medium eggs.

The "large" eggs were good value when Tesco had them at 2.50

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,215 ✭✭✭✭OmegaGene

the size reduction was covered earlier in the thread where the previous mediums are now called large etc, the price of everything has shot up with price gouging so why wouldnt easter eggs be included, i wouldnt expect anything less from the big retailers

    The internet isn’t for everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,849 ✭✭✭Patsy167

All Easter chocolate half price in Tesco this morning. Buttons Easter eggs for 87 cent and 5pack creme eggs were €1.75

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 454 ✭✭StonedRaider
