Anyone know if they've started recruiting from this panel yet for Rosslare?

Hi. I'm stuck to agree or to skip this position. Since the salary is 27+K annual +25% bonus as I calculated it would be around 2800€ before tax, once tax deducted i will get less than 2500€ which is for a family with a child not enough. Wife works only 10 hrs per week, child is 3yo. At my last job i earned about 3400 after tax. Since I'm on jobseekers allowance I know that i will loose it, but will i loose rent allowance as well if I will agree for this position? Or it's better to look for an another more paid job? Am I blind or I did not find what benefits they are offering ?

I think on this position i will see my family less, is it true?

How much approx i will earn on this position if I'm basing in Dublin (24/7 shifts).

    Thanx in advance

Starting CO wage is currently €534.34 per week. This is €27,785 per annum basic.

This with the 25% shift allowance works out as €34,732 per annum.

Basing your after tax amounts on your credits alone(though you likely could take all/part of your wife's personal credit as she works few hours)

    • 34,732 @20%= 6,946 less credits (personal +paye 3750) =3,196 tax due
    • PRSI @4%= 1389 PRSI Due
    • USC
    • 12012@0.5%= 60.06
    • 13,748 @ 2% =274
    • Balance (8972) @ 4%= 358
    • Total due = 692
    • All tax deductions = 5,277

After tax wage is €29,455 or €566 per week roughly.(have to count in pension deductions but that's a different story)

Hi, has anyone started in either Dublin Airport or Port recently? How does your roster look like?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2 rulazz11

Genuine question, is it worth taking 12k pay cut for this position in the port or airport if thinking for the long term, is it going to pay off with increment after couple years. At the moment I'm getting nearly 3000 after tax working shift Days and nights. I know guys roughly gets around 550 a week as customs officers, is it true that after 3 years my salary can jump up to ~800€ a week?

Is that 3000k fortnightly pay? The booklet has the salary scale.

Any movement on the list for Rosslare ? I passed interview last Sept and was 30th on list. In answer to previous question the panel will last until 28th April 2025.

    Nah,thats my monthly after tax

As a CO, you'll get paid weekly. As an EO you'll get paid every 2 weeks. Top increment as a CO earns about €650 after tax, which would take 15 years to reach or €2800 per month. The pay scales are a mater of public record. Stay in your civvy job. Everyone will be better off.

Nobody joins the public sector to get rich.

Does anybody know if recruitment has commenced from the 2023 competition for the Rosslare positions? I passed the interview in Sept 2023 and am 18th on the panel.
