It's been an awful match. Tipp did get better towards the end of the half but the first touch and control of both teams has been shocking particularly on a dry day. There's a breeze here that favoured Tipp somewhat but it shouldn't impact the match that much. We've been dreadful.

Ronan Maher drives so many wides. Thats 2 or 3 today when passing tye ball inside might have been more fruitful.

Goal brings it back to 5, should be an interesting last 15.

As bad as Kilkenny have been Tipp looking a little vulnerable. Kilkenny have won the 2nd half by 7 points so far.

Beautiful sideline cut followed by another score following a poor puckout, 7 in it.

Draw at ht but 2 fast goals have given Cork a bit of a lead

Tipp hold on for a rare victory on Kilkenny soil. Kilkenny were better in 2nd half. I don't remember too many if any Tipp wins in Nowlan Park in last 10-15 years. Probably the hardest place to go and win so fair play to Tipp.

At least Kilkenny showed a bit of fight after that awful first half performance. They did well to get it back to 5 at one stage but then Tip went again and scored a few to run out more than deserving winners with a 6 point win.

Really as a moderator you should learn to spell the name of one of the top counties in GAA I’d have thought.

Away teams doing well today. Following a win for Tipp, Cork score a fourth goal which looks like ensuring a good win in Galway.

Some finish in Galway with Galway scoring 2-01 and Cork saved a penalty, Cork win by 5 in the end.

Strange start in Parnell Park. Dublin 0-06 to 0-01 up

Antrim very intense, spirited and no shortage of effort but they are a dirty bunch and getting a handy time of it from the ref, in respect of their tackling.

This one looks already like it will be a bit pedestrian.

Had to head out after Tipp v KK. Lovely day outside anyway. Listening to Dubs game on RTE radio and it's about as exciting as a funeral. Shane Stapleton on co comm.

League semi final 2008 is the last one I remember

Anybody have a view on whether RTE can do a better job at screening hurling games ? ok its particularly challenging for a camera team....but seems to me they have been stuck in a rut for years. The yellow sliotar helps. I see Rugby has the cameras on wires above now taking a cue from other sports.

What part of Corrigan Park do you think these cameras are going to hang out of exactly ?

The 6 Nations is held in 6 class A national stadiums 4 of which are also set up for the hugely lucrative soccer market.

The hurling league is a very small fry tournament and hurling in general is too. People seem to think Ireland has 32 top class camera teams to send around the country.

Doesn't mean there's no way to improve on RTE coverage. There was some change evident at last years All Irelands in Croker. Obviously Croker is unique. TG4 decision on ladies GAA kicked RTE up the arse a bit. Shake em up a bit in Montrose.

How about more camera stations near and behind the posts. Frees should always focus from behind to see the flight of the ball. Would also allow better view of near goal side action. RTE will probably plead the "we don't have the resources" line but their camera action outside of Croker still has a bit of watching tennis from the net line feel about it

So send massive camera crews to the 2 or 3 live games and to stadia that don't have built in camera stations or facilities for the backroom camera team.

While also sending camera crews all over the country for the 14 other matches going on.

See I asked what you would do and how but you don't seem to have much info on the how bit.

It's not a massive international sport. Most counties only have the same population as English conference league soccer teams. It can't be compared to the 6 Nations or whatever.

"So send massive camera crews to the 2 or 3 live games and to stadia that don't have built in camera stations or facilities for the backroom camera team."

Jesus wept..is that u Marty? The banks of the Shannon are overflowing indeed.

Have you seen those RTE cameras at games covered in rain drops? Its not a 1970s broadcast from Craggy Island. Technology is much cheaper and of higher quality. Look at the resolution on your mobile phone. TG4 do a better job with a fraction of the resources.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,472 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

TG4 do the exact same job.

It's possibly even the same camera teams.

The not having HD is a joke at this stage. If this is the coverage for the rest of the Championship then its going to be poor. We should never have let Sky go. We've gone backwards entirely. A guy takes a free and we've to rely on the flag going up before we can make any sort of decision ourselves..No depth to the coverage

Precisely. I saw only one production (re football) with an attempt to sell to an international market. It was called the Road to Croker. Perhaps it was RTE? If it was fair dues to them. If the production was of higher standard it would be easy to sell an hour documentary of the hurling championship ending with a fifteen minute emphasis on the final itself to an international market. With proper commentary over HD camerawork with an eye to the outsider who never saw the sport before its an easy sell such as this clip with all its amazing and unique skill. Rant over.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,472 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

The international market won't give a sht. I don't know why people fool themselves with this idea.

Would probably cost more money that it would make which is why no one is doing it.

Jeez Mr Negativity. I bet the highlight of your day is Josephine Duffy on the whine line. I say again the hope of fostering higher quality production is first and foremost to cater to the Irish fans and audience. It would also drive on ticket sales at games and grow the game at schools level. Any theoretical international sale is... cream on top.
