Great to get ahead just before half time

    though prendergast missed conversion again

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,478 ✭✭✭Shehal

And he missed again, what on earth is going on with Prendergast this is so uncharacteristic from him.

Three trys to One and but should be much further ahead on the scoreboard.

If someone else on that team can kick off the tee, give it to them in the second half.

Good half. Lots of errors but deservedly leading. England are really powerful but lack a bit of guile; Ireland look better coached and more cohesive.

Really uncharacteristically sloppy mistakes off the tee from Prendergast, when was excellent off the tee in 6N. Hard to know what’s happening - all three were just poor strikes.

Our backs have looked very dangerous when given an opportunity.

Impressed by Fintan Gunne, Paddy McCarthy, Gus McCarthy and especially Ruadhan Quinn - best player on the pitch so far.

Need to be smarter in the 2nd. Could rue those missed kicks from Sam

Prendergast, kicking aside, is having a good game. He's forced two or three turnovers from England through great defending.

Our biggest issue right now is at the breakdown. We're continually failing to make effective clearouts.

Quinn looks like a serious player at 7

I actually thought some of our breakdown work has been pretty good - England are extremely physical and have a few guys who are very tough to shift off the ball, but some of the Irish clear outs are in big numbers and are very physical.

Ref is being tough on the breakdown but think he’s been good and it’s suiting us so far.

Agreed on Prendergast’s defence - two huge moments 5m out that directly led to key turnovers.

If Ireland can build on the try and keep the scoreboard ticking I think they should go and win but if continue like they did in the 1st half and let it become a scrap then England still can win, you cant withstand those powerful carries for 80 minutes eventually cracks will start appearing.

Actually think part of why he’s looked so good is he’s scrummaging at 8, and getting his hands on a lot of ball. He looks more of a natural 8 than anything else to me.

Have said it before - but he looks the closest thing to Sean O’Brien that Irish rugby have produced in the past decade.

Hope they don’t rue those missed kicks from Prendergast. 6 points left behind really as they were all very kickable.

All this pressure now from an utterly braindead penalty. This is exactly the same mistakes they made in the 1H...

England in the end knock on. Ireland get away with it but they seriously need to be more wise going forward, they cant keep making these errors and expecting to get away with it.

A mile forward to the Eng winger there

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,478 ✭✭✭Shehal

Even that defence there is the difference, if England were in Ireland shoes you know they would have legally turned that over but of course we concede a cynical penalty.

Like the first half this is a big moment.

And there we go. I really dont have no sympathy either, they did this to themselves with their horrendous game management and all those easy miss kicks. All self inflicted. And now England have all the momentum and confidence which will make this even more difficult.

22-15 to england now. game really slipping away now

  • Registered Users Posts: 67,045 ✭✭✭✭FrancieBrady

    Under the kosh now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,478 ✭✭✭Shehal

All the poor game management starting to see results now, England's tails up now and Ireland starting to make even more mistakes.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,406 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

Not been impressed by the Ireland 9 all season

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,478 ✭✭✭Shehal

And a 2 score game now. That's what happens when one teams gets their 3 conversion's and other misses all theirs.

Thought there was a head high clear out on an Ireland player at the ruck before the England try.

Missed the beginning of the 2nd half. Who's in the bin and why?

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,757 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

    Fintan Gunne that's excellent.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,769 ✭✭✭Lost Ormond

That’s a touch of pure class - brilliantly worked try.

Lovely play design there for the try

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,478 ✭✭✭Shehal

And then he does that! (Hope its not offside :/).

  • Moderators, Arts Moderators Posts: 35,167 Mod ✭✭✭✭pickarooney

Random Keane scored that according to the commentator on L'équipe TV

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,990 ✭✭✭AbusesToilets

Is there no other kicker in the team?

Jesus, pass the tee on. That's woeful stuff.

If Prendergast goes to bits when his confidence is down it's a bad sign.
