This reminds me of a time I played in America years ago. My home course, like most in Ireland had yellow for juniors, red for ladies, green for society, white and blue for men's depending on the competition. Anyway I played golf on a family reunion over in the states and when I was handed the scorecard in the proshop I had to nominate what colour tee box I was to play from. I just told them I assumed we would be all off the greens as it was kind of an unofficially society day out....your man looked at me like I had 10 heads and just told me to make sure that everyone plays from tee's that fit their handicap as it speeds up play! I was only 20 at the time and I actually never knew that was the actually reason for the different colour tee boxes, I always just assumed it was based on gender/age.
