Private Internet Access VPN with 100% Cashback from TopCashBack

I stumbled upon this while signing up a friend to Topcashback to get a VPN. Was looking at getting him Surfshark, but 100% cashback on a well established no-logs VPN is a no-brainer.

I have no idea how many years you can sign up for with it or if they are stackable, but at a guess, at least 2 years + 2 months. Which is normally €51.74. You also have the option to sign up for their antivirus for €1.45 per month and a dedicated IP for €4 per month.

I have just signed up. I can't see why I couldn't do it again and again etc..

Got my cashback pending already, so it's 2 years and 2 months free. I don't think I have ever had a cashback pending that quick. Less than an hour it was.

worth a try - 30-day money back if it doesn't work.

IPVanish now also offering the same 100% cashback.

still haven't got my cashback from PIA, not even pending though TCB did register my click-thru.

I'll give it until next week.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

Signed up for PIA as have torguard and refuses too start automatically and disconnects (great black Friday deal so it's up soon)

Hopefully no messing with the cash back

Mine appeared straight away, if you have an adblocker etc. it may be the reason for the delay, but they still pay, it just makes it harder iirc to register the clicks. I disabled adblocker for that site, but if you disable it temporarily while you are doing it, it might be faster to get back, and you can contact them too, I have found them very good in the two times I needed to.

I tried it incognito Chrome and says you need to have bank details before you buy it

I lodged a claim and it says it's on ice to September 4th

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

The bank details are how they give you the cashback, so that makes sense. I have never tried it in incognito mode, but I would guess that makes it a lot more difficult for them to track any clicks that lead to the cashback.

Didn't realise that TopCashBack have an Irish section on it now 👍️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 the1eyedsnake

It seems PIA discount is down to 94.5% now

Does the cashback go into your revolut account say or does it stay in your topcashback account? thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,516 ✭✭✭Wheety

You can withdraw it to your Revolut account. I have my sterling Revolut account set up on it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

Same, I have it set up with Revolut, no bother. The money goes into your Topcashback account, then you can withdraw it when it is there.

It may have only been for a week. IPVanish is still 100% Cashback.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

    I got the click registered

But as on phone with secure adblock DNS I just did incognito to turn it off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

Got too the pending stage and looking its on about needing a bank account before you start

Did others have this before or is there much more I can do or just sit and wait for it too move from pending?

Dont want too setup a load of devices and then have to undo it as cant get cashback and cancel the service and get refund

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,330 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

I lodged a claim today as mine never even went to pending - I have Paypal setup, but I assume the bank account section will only work with a UK account.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,075 ✭✭✭steve_r

How is it as a VPN? Does it work for BBC player? Also would be useful if it had a Ukraine or Indonesia server for the PL streaming sites

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,330 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

BBC worked fine for me. They have servers in Indonesia, Ukraine and Moldova for cheap PL. US Netflix works as well (which doesn't on my previous VPN service).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

Yeah I tried revolt and even after some googling it wouldn't take it

I think in future you'd need to have a checklist like add PayPal turn off adblock accept cookies and whatever else to make sure no messing or delays

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 49 the1eyedsnake

Im trying to add my revolut as a bank account and its asking for a sort ode and account number, all i have on my revolut is a bic and iban number , how did ye go about adding it ?

You need to add a Sterling account if you don't have one yet. This will have a sort code and account number.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,330 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

it's not easy to find in the app:

tap your initials (top left) -> Account -> All Accounts -> GBP

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,211 ✭✭✭✭Suckit

I don't have my bank account details setup, my cashback is still showing as pending though. I have only used topcashback once before to withdraw and I don't remember there being any problems at all withdrawing it. But I did have adblocker on, it still went through, but not immediately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

Don't forget to cancel VPN autorenew

Also Topcashback plus plan kicks in after a month or so at 5 pounds a month

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,330 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

mine is now showing as pending, only took a day after I put in the claim.

What’s the business model of a free VPN?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

    It's now 105 percent

Be handy if they cleared the pendings before offering cashback and then some

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

    Did anyone get their cashback?

Have added my Revolut BACS details but still getting asked to enter those details?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

I'm getting nothing, still on pending

Sent customer care a message and nudge

Feel like getting refund and trying other VPN but any of the links I click won't connect

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,330 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

3 weeks left to cancel if necessary, I'll see how it goes. The VPN service itself is good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 236 ✭✭Shpongler

    From their site:

"After you have sent the image of your receipt to us, the cashback amount will track to your account Earnings at pending status within 1 hour. It can then take up to 30 days for the cashback to be approved and made payable (the point at which you can withdraw your cashback). If we're not able to approve your receipt first time, we may ask you to carry out further steps to get it sorted for you."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,858 ✭✭✭bromley52

How long did you wait before putting in the claim?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

Then when you click on cashback button it says will be in it account within a day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,330 ✭✭✭✭loyatemu

7 days as per their instructions - you can submit earlier but they won't look at it until 7 days have passed from the transaction date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,881 ✭✭✭jeffk

I can see where this is going

Can take up to 30 days to get money

Can cancel VPN within 30 days

So do you gamble on going past the 30 and assume youll get cashback and if not then you are paying full whack for something you may not need

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 125 ✭✭samboy08

Topcashback can take months to get cashback but is usually 99% guaranteed to get your cashback, I've never had issues getting cashback in the few years I've been using it. I have had cashback declined before but always get it eventually once opened a ticket. Only time I have had cashback declined is if I cancel an order which makes me not entitled to it. I wouldn't worry about it, I'm certain you will receive your cashback if you don't ask for a refund.

Anyone get the VPN to work with iPlayer on Android or on Firestick? Not working for me. Works fine on windows laptop.

[EDIT] Got it working. Had to select the "London Streaming" server, the other UK servers didn't work.

This is great and the Cashback is pending already.

Yes, and soon the London Streaming may not work as well as it has been, but switch to another UK and it should. Or it may refresh before you even notice and no need to change (but a heads up just in case). Same for HULU, I find most US servers work great, but I have tried one assuming it would work, and when it didn't I thought there was something wrong with HULU ☺️ I eventually realised it was the VPN.

Mine is still pending, from the time I purchased I almost immediately got pending. As another poster said above, I haven't ever had any issues getting cashback from them, I don't remember any pending this long, I am not worried though. Although this isn't very comforting, I am happy it would be sorted if I contacted them (which I haven't).I don't think I will have to wait that long either.

Why is there a wait before my cashback is paid?

After your cashback has tracked, it is typically around 3 months before your cashback becomes ‘payable’ and is ready to withdraw. We’ll always make your cashback ‘payable’ as soon as we can, but it does take a few months for the funds to reach us from the retailer, before we can pass them onto you.

they recommend using US East or US West for streaming (East probably better here for geographical reasons).

I tried out their Smart DNS and it didn't work for any streaming and it's not really "smart" in the sense that other providers use the term (i.e. it should only reroute traffic for specific streaming services, should automatically reroute to the correct country, and leave the rest of your traffic alone; but PIA's version reroutes all your traffic to whatever country you've chosen).

my cashback has cleared and I've withdrawn it to Revolut (hasn't arrived yet though).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 236 ✭✭Shpongler

Still pending for me. I bought on the 31st of August. maybe another few days so.
