Cineworld cinemas to file for bankruptcy.

    Yeah. I took yesterday off for other reasons but I had thought about popping into a morning showing at the local (Ashbourne, Meath) cinema; after checking all the other nearby cinemas in Dublin, sure enough - there's no such thing as morning or lunchtime showings anymore. As Johnny says the earliest tends to be 2-3pm.

    Big shame, but I suppose given cinemas in general are struggilng to remain relevant, makes sense they don't open during times they were empty, even during the heyday.

    It's a strange one, because as far back as I remember Cineworld always had early screenings from around 10am. Used to be super handy when I was in college or doing shift work. But between this and the previously mentioned lower ticket prices, I think Cineworld has finally changed their strategy after years of stasis for better (lower prices) and worse (fewer screenings).
