Dull and overcast in Trim, Meath. Very cool too @ 14°. Thankfully the strong winds of late have eased to a light breeze however I would still prefer that wind to be fully absent. More like mid October than early August but thankfully more summer like conditions are in the pipeline.

Not a bad day overall in southern Laois, became sunnier this evening as cloud seemed to evaporate giving a clear blue sky for the sunset. Never much more than a light breeze here today that began WNW and is now WSW. Maximum temperatures topped over 20c - a decent enough day. Currently 14c and you can feel it in the air that it's gonna get cool by dawn - wouldn't be surprised to have some fog around then.

Driving from Trim to Inchicore via Kilcock and Maynooth, temperatures were hovering between 23 and 24° as far as Leixlip, at which point it steadied at 25°. Was 26° along the M50 and was 25° upon arrival in Inchicore. Feels pleasantly warm out there thanks to the light wind. Would love to be sunbathing right now......or anything outdoorsy!

Yesterday 13th August 2022, took a train from Thurles to Dublin at 20.00hrs. Loud claps of thunder as we departed. At Templemore station it was raining and rain continued until Ballybrophy station.

I expect even those short rain showers came as welcome relief to otherwise parched locations.

A bit of a cloudier start than recently and feeling fresher. Temp 20.3c

Haven't updated in a few days but i had a station record 29.8c on Friday beating the previous Max Temp of 29.2c on June 28th 2018. Since the heatwave started i've had Max Daily temps of 25.3c, 27.0c, 29.0c, 29.8c and 28.4c. A truely memorable spell.

Station record Max of 30.5c at my station in Waterford City before a sea breeze kicked in and the temp dropped to 24.9c in an hour.

What an incredible spell of heat its been. Amazing we hit that 30c for the first time. A nice milestone
