Thanks that usefull although slightly vague similar adjustments could end being well very dissimilar and I hope not. Also would live if this happend before January because I'm applying for a mortgage then.

Having been through the process recently, being bumped an extra point on the scale won't make too much of a difference to your mortgage application.

True but with the ICS lender they take 3 points up and from 2 to 3 on my scale isn't high but from 3 to 6 is a a good chunk.

if you're post 2013 direct entry then ICS should be assuming you're going to skip point 4 on the scale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 513 ✭✭✭skidmarkoner

I got in via open comp but I skiped 4 on my CO scale so I'm not 100% confident that it'll apply again. Raging I literally hit the incremental on Friday and started my promotion on the Monday.

You won't skip point 4 again, but you'll still get to skip point 8 on your new scale if you haven't done so already, if your new scale is EO or AO, HEO doesn't skip. The scenario you described would have worked very well in your favour if your new increment salary on the Friday was higher than the starting point of the new scale.

"Where the officer's current salary is above the minimum point of the new scale but below the normal maximum, the nearest point above the officer's current salary point plus one increment."

I wonder is the 1.2 billion that Chambers just announced for Public Sector pay deals the local bargaining or is it seperate?

It's for the increases already agreed to be implemented during 2026 (Feb & June).

So that means that no money has been put aside to pay local bargaining next year?

It would have had to have been allocated for in 2025 as the implementation date, which is going to be the backdating date, is 2025.

After today's budget where workers have taken a backwards step on all fronts i.e. no personal income tax packages, no electricity one off payments, increased petrol /diesel/ home heating costs etc married with general cost of living crisis and astronomical rents and housing costs - the unions need to up their game in the next round of pay talks.

Wouldn't hold my breathe and can see strikes again in coming years, the magic corporation tax tree is at risk of becoming very bare. PS workers will be the first to suffer like 2008 and fempi cuts.

There was a teacher on Prime Time last night, husband/partner is an SNA and they have one child and are renting. She spoke very well. Can barely make ends meet, want another child but can't afford to, and are thinking of emigrating although they don't want to. It's one thing announcing funding for hundreds of extra SNA posts, but who exactly is going to be able to afford to take up these posts?

Same with garda recruitment, mentioned on news at lunch

Pay agreements are a waste of time at the moment, particularly local bargaining. The 2% we’re due means nothing next year with a disastrous Budget and annual inflation

That's all a smokescreen anyway...it's in fact harder for schools to procure and justify to Dept additional SNA's, which are badly needed in most schools.

McEntee and Foley before her well out of their depth.

PRSI increase from 1 October hit my paypacket today so I'm worse off even before the budget changes…

Victim blaming. Nice. If she was in a burlap sack you'd be saying that looks fancy.

It very easy to play the victim, we all make choices. Play odds there is a back story there. There always is with RTE and Irish Times victims

Apologies for derailing the thread but I cant find anything similar on boards to my query.

I'm currently on point 14 Clerical Officer and after a recent internal comp I was awarded Higher Scale CO- does anyone know if I jump across to point 14 on Higher Scale? The circular isn't very clear, it states I'm awarded higher scale on current pay?

NSSO have said there is a 6mth back log with queries etc, so no joy there! TIA.

As far as I understand it it's

"A point on the new scale that is nearest to, but above, your current salary plus one increment of the new scale."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,349 ✭✭✭Daith

Yes, that's it. It's not done on the point but the salary/amount.

Can anyone translate the newsletter piece today? Forsa are expecting an offer for local bargaining for Clerical Officer only?

"Following ongoing negotiations with the Department of Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Sector Reform and Digitalisation (DPER) Fórsa is now waiting for an offer in relation to the cross sectoral local bargaining claim for clerical officers and grade 3 equivalent roles.

Updating members on the state of play deputy general secretary and head of the civil service division, Éamonn Donnelly said: “We are awaiting a formal offer from DPER. We anticipate that it will be based on the removal of one point of the scale and an upwards adjustment on the maximum point of the scale.”

“This would be in line with what members told us they wanted to see happen. These claims were shaped by members, and when we receive an offer, we will outline next steps, including details of a ballot, should the offer be reasonable.”

"The discussions currently ongoing are focused on the clerical officer or grade 3 equivalent roles claim and the executive officer, administrative officer, higher executive officer or grade 4-7 equivalent roles claim."

They expect future offers for the other grades listed?

Offer on pay claim shaped by members imminent

Waiting on an offer from DPER regarding grade 3 and equivalents. You would think if the offer is okay it should move faster for subsequent grades.
