Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The commentators need this qualifying to start.

Does anyone know why when they show the onboard footages, we sometimes get a trace map for the throttle, but not for the brakes? They don't just plant the brakes, would be interesting to see the different braking styles used

    christ sake lance Stroll.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,026 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Stroll has no business in a f1 car

Pit lane is a real car park.

Lance is only good for going on a Stroll.

Why are the commentators saying that deliberately holding up other cars in qualifying is perfectly ok when it’s clearly against the rules and there is so much precedent for drivers getting penalised for doing so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,363 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

no bottas did get through crofty.

Bit of a waste so many teams putting cars out when they're just going to trip each other up.

Alonso with shithousery that was pretty unnecessary. Haven't seen the run up the escape road but if it was more silliness he should cop on.

Not the first time this season he's made that mistake. The graphic is confusing though IMO.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,666 ✭✭✭quokula

Don’t see how Alonso can possibly justify that after how much he kicked up a fuss and ultimately gained from a stewards decision after what looked like a much more genuine error at Monaco 06

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,363 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

That was far too close for checo. No need to be that close to the wall. Vettel did well to get it back to the pits and won’t do a stroll.

When ya see how cautious teams usually are in so many cases I just can't get my head around Ferrari and Red Bull putting their cars out there at full tilt for no reason.

Leclerc got close to the wall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,363 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Sounds like the Mercedes team were telling Lewis to go faster and the stewards will look at it after the session.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,790 ✭✭✭✭Burkie1203

That's a penalty for Hamilton. No excuse when you have clear track ahead

    Alonso should also get one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,363 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Well Hamilton was going slow in that replay.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,369 ✭✭✭Rossi IRL

    Strange there from Norris.

Hamilton was going slow but Norris just stopped behind him and wouldn't overtake him.

They could of just drove past Hamilton as he was so far off the line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,816 ✭✭✭Captain_Crash

That looked ridiculous from HAM, I can’t see how he wouldn’t have a pen coming his way if he was as slow as the footage made it look!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,026 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Tsunoda is doing a very solid job this season

    I missed Q1 and Q2 - what happened with Norris/Hamilton?

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,244 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Hamilton.... hope he gets punished. Could you imagine the whinging he would do if the roles were reversed.

Ferraris 1-2 after the first Q3 run despite a couple of scruffy laps!

Love these 4 way battles for pole.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,363 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Leclerc gets pole with a great lap but the two red bulls pushed him. Checo gets on the front row.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,244 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Well done Perez!!!!

  • Site Banned Posts: 12,341 ✭✭✭✭Faugheen

And everybody here would be giving out about him whinging and saying he should just go past him.

Hamilton is going unnecessarily slowly, but there is literally nothing stopping Norris from driving past him instead of just driving up behind him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,295 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

What a pole lap from LeClerc,

    Take a bow.

Will be some race for the top four tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,515 ✭✭✭recyclebin

With the Red Bull top speed advantage it should be easy to pass Leclerc and take a 1-2

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 33,244 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

The speed Red Bull have will be hige on that straight, with DRS, they should overtake with some ease.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,026 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

    Christ, Herbert is insufferable

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,692 ✭✭✭This is it

Yep, LeClerc will open a gap through the lap but a Red Bull with DRS will ease past that Ferrari

Same as Lewis could have passed Max in Saudi last year instead of deciding to crash into the back of him.

Can’t stand him, so much cringe bringing up Monaco

Looking forward to tomorrow, hopefully the bulls get past handy enough. Another dominant showing from Russell over Hamilton too, was that down to a tow I wonder or just a better lap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,666 ✭✭✭quokula

I have to say it’s a real treat to see all four top drivers pushing to the absolute maximum on every lap, which has been happening all season but is particularly noticeable at street circuits with the walls closing in like Baku and Monaco. It’s such a change from the majority of the hybrid era races being won by dominant cars being driven nowhere near their limits.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,009 ✭✭✭thefa

Literally all the challengers hit a wall at least once. It’s quali on a street circuit and they’re going for it. Makes the spectacle even more impressive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,279 ✭✭✭✭MadYaker

At least one red flag tomorrow surely.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,194 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Did Leclerc just smoke Herbert at the end of his interview there? Haha

It really is red bull ferrari and then the rest this year, they're a mile ahead of the rest. Toto seems absolutely dejected everytime he gives an interview about the car.

Should be an interesting race tomorrow with safety cars/ red flags a possibility, midfield seems on top of eachother so hopefully some good racing there. If Perez and Verstappen can get past leclerc it will be interesting to see if team orders come into play, I can't envisage checo being too keen to be a team player this time around.

  • Registered Users Posts: 487 ✭✭BikeRacer

Checo shouldn't be keen, quicker than Max again all this weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,397 ✭✭✭Gamb!t

perez is defo in the hunt for the championship.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,905 ✭✭✭Joeface

Alpine look like they prepared for Just one section of the track .

Any more on Hamilton and the possible penalty?
