F1 2022 Round 8 - AZERBAIJAN GP
Eventfull race last year with tire fails and Brake magic and Aston Poduims
will it be more of the same ? , Will the Really really long straight show more bouncing than previous races .
Start times :
The heat is on da-dada-da-dada-da-da.
So the Mercedes’ have the heat lamps out drying glue under the floor of their Cars.
Should be an Over/Under market on finishing time. :P Be doing well to finish within 2 hours of the original start time.
Jesus come on already.
Just had F2 highlights on, there was a crash on the last lap but delighted to say they let everyone ahead race to the line. Hopefully they'll make such common sense decisions in the main series if the need arises. :P
I genuinely hope that dany ric gets the car working because he’s been a good addition to F1.
It’s my best guess.
Is that what he was doing :)
Please don’t let Johnny herbert “dance” on TV ever again.
I wonder though, despite what Dreary Benson said on BBC's free practice coverage about the two hour minimum gap between FP3 and Q1, with no support events and nobody with a big crash to repair, will race direction try to get the teams consent and get going at 1500BST as usual?
It's only practice, but Ric must be happy with that. He could really do with a good result to get the media off his back.
Looks very comfortable out there.
The porpoising and variation is really strange. The Red Bull looks fine. The Ferrari looks planted then on-board the heads are bobbing up and down furiously. Spain was a great example, turn 3 flat-out (depending on when in the race) and the Ferrari lads were bouncing through it but it didn't affect performance. Then the Merc looks like it's wobbling for 3 or 4 different reasons, it's a mess. But it certainly seems "porpoising" is a bit of a catch-all when it seems there are quite different effects and causes for different teams.
FP3 Results
Promising for McLaren. "Best of the rest" going into qualifying.
Checo P1 at the end of FP3, from LeClerc, Max and Sainz.
Interesting.
The BBC are saying that it's in the regulations that there needs to be at least 2 hours between the end of FP3 and qualifying, so because FP3 finishes at 1315 BST qualifying will have to carry over the 15 minutes delay.
FP 3 has been delayed due to them having to fix a barrier which took a belt.
That turn 8 and 9 looks tight enough from the TV coverage but on the helmet cam from lando Norris where you can’t even see the corner at all just the left wall.
always switching teams at the wrong time.....going to a strong team just before the went downhill and leaving a team just before they came really good. just poor timing...
F2 sprint was a busy one with 3 safety cars. Drivers all ok after a hefty smash on the last lap.
Fair play to the Marshalls clearing the track very quickly.
Alonso came very close on two occasions, 1 - 3 points off winning two titles.
Merc bouncing like nuts again
Alonso can be real picky with his words , I really disliked his final year at Mclaren where he said he was having great season beating his team mate a "former GP2-GP3 champion" ...and left out the part where he was 5-6 races ahead in upgrade parts as Mclaren tired to appease him . And Vandoorne was in a Massey Ferguson at that stage . But that's for a different thread
He's been difficult to work with so nobody really wanted to design him a title winning car.
Long runs data form FP
Goddamn it but it's a travesty Alonso only got 2 titles. The man is unbelievable through multiple eras. Indy 500? Just put it on the second row and battle for the lead til the engine blew up.
He had a decent P1 as well but yeah he has had a few false dawns.
FP2 Results , Seen Alonso flying in FP2 before this season , Failed to live up to expectation yet.
(not him really Apline )
Alonso flying in P2.
