If you have no argument against something, it's ok to admit it. It's the internet, no one cares.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86 ✭✭redseat1

    You care. Very much.

How many times have you posted about Kenny here?

Were you banned from the soccer forum for your posts about Kenny?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,251 ✭✭✭✭pgj2015

We should have beaten a very good Portugal team away, we drew with them at home. we at least deserved a draw with France in Dublin, he has been a very unlucky manager. Hopefully he gets another contract, I dont want Carsley, he wont do well with us.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

🤣 I just find it amusing how much squirming you're doing that's all.

Let's try again. Kenny's had 6 major failures, I've quoted them below as apparently you missed them the first time. Any argument against those?

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

Portugal battered us away. We could have drawn with France but it was an old fashioned all out defence and try to knick something from a setpiece performance. No way does he deserve anything but the sack.

You don't sound amused. Calling people you don't know "liars" just because they have a different opinion sounds more like angry.

Now, speaking of squirming, we'll try again. Were you banned from the soccer forum for your posts about Kenny?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,251 ✭✭✭✭pgj2015

We battered Portugal away, they were very lucky to get anything from that game. We actually played well against France, we didnt just sit back and defend. are you sure you saw that game?

The goal we gave away v France was very sloppy and the header by collins wouldnt be saved by 9 out of 10 goalkeepers, we should have won that game really.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

I'm actually very amused! 🤣 Your posts are basically like that leave Britney alone guy:

    download.jpeg

    Leave Kenny alone!!!! 😂

You've failed to refute any of the points I've raised against Kenny. You're clearly part of the cult. I'm getting second hand embarrassment from the squirming you're doing, I'm sure others are the same. So I'll do you and everyone else a favour and put you on ignore. I don't have to pretend not to have read your posts! 😸

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

Portugal 72% possession. 29 shots to 6. They missed a penalty, hit the post.

We did just sit back and defend against France until the last quarter and then tried to score from a setpiece.

    Facts win every time.

I can see why this poster was banned from the soccer forum.

Posters can be for or against Kenny. But the tirade of abuse, the "you're all liars and in a cult and my opinion is a fact so there" stuff is just so lame.

The Stephen Kenny supporters (and they are SK supporters not Ireland supporters) can defend him all they like but his record and results are there for all to see and they're indefensible.

Whereas once we qualified for international tournaments (and Kenny just had to get through two matches to get us to Euro2020 but couldn't even deliver that) now our competition is Gibraltar, Luxembourg, etc. .

Supporting a poor manager because he's from the League of Ireland is just immature and juvenile.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86 ✭✭redseat1

    Once we qualified for tournaments?

We didn't really. We never qualified at all until Charlton. He had some world class players, played an ugly but effective style, and it worked well. Since then it's been diminishing returns, the headlines in 2002 were all off the field, 2012 was a disgrace. In fairness 2016 was good, young players, some great moments. Why O'Neill took that and went back to Trap hoofball is a mystery.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

It's sad really. They don't care how hard it will be to recover from the Kenny reign. Potentially, it could take a few managers and a number of years to get back to where we were pre Kenny.

It's been so bad, the only defence is to try to make previous managers seem worse than they were. And the danger is, the knives will be out for the next manager from day 1 from these Kenny fanatics.

Kenny failed and failed badly, that's indisputable. Instead of throwing their toys out of the pram, the Kenny supporters need to get over it and get behind our next manager. If we get someone good, we have decent players to start working our way back up the football ladder. It's time for some optimism after the negative last 3 years.

Who do you think would be good enough to take this bunch of players onwards and upwards?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,252 ✭✭✭✭gormdubhgorm

And the reason Kenny's Ireland was placed in such a group with Holland and France is because he lost against the weaker sides in the Nations League etc. It makes the task even more difficult now for whoever the next manager is. Regardless of style or philosophy.

You forgot to mention another lie that Ireland have not got the players to qualify, far weaker or comparable nations have qualified for tournaments Iceland, NI, Solvakia, Finland, Scotland etc.

But yet when this is pointed out the 'Kenny Kids Cult' that MON, or Trap etc was lucky to qualify! It is maddening. I think at this stage think that a psychologist could do a thesis on the small crowd who 'rule the roost' in Ireland thread.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

I've just started a new thread on the soccer forum:

It would be interesting to get opinions and then start a poll.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

It's true, they are fanatics. It has really caused a bad feeling amongst Irish supporters at matches and in general. Any criticism gets shouted down. It will be great for all when this period is long past us. We all need some positivity, hopefully the new man brings it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,265 ✭✭✭Peter Flynt

The three previous managers before Stephen Kenny brought Ireland to major international tournaments - tournaments we all celebrated in qualifying for, enjoyed the build-up to whilst experiencing the highs and lows.

It is a total joke for anyone to refer to 2012 as a "disgrace". The achievement was in the qualification and we ended up in a group with the two eventual finalists (one of them the then holders of both the World Cup and the Euros and the other the winner of the Wrold Cup just 6 years previously) and Croatia (an international football team of considerable pedigree and players).

We are a country of 5m (less when qualifying) where football comes a distant fourth in terms of funding. Who da fook do the SK fan club think we are? Brazil 1970 in disguise?

It is also a complete disgrace for our so-called "fans" to denigrate the achievement of qualifying for major tournaments in order to protect Stephen Kenny from his disastrous reign as manager. You people are not supporters of Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,265 ✭✭✭Peter Flynt

Personally I would give the job to Lee Carsley, Damien Duff or Pep Guardiola. ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86 ✭✭redseat1

And you are perfectly entitled to enjoy the pints and the build up and the craic and not care that we were getting hammered on the field. Or justify it with your "Croatia are great but we're only a small country of 5 million" (though you might want to check the population of Croatia). I didn't enjoy it, or the record breaking defeat against Germany that you overlook, or the subsequent campaign with watching Traps pets hoofing the ball anywhere. I thought it was a disgrace, you loved it, we differ, I wouldn't say it makes you some Irish superfan though.

But you love getting beaten by Luxembourg, drawing at home to Azerbaijan, out of qualifying tournaments after the second match. . . . and I bet you enjoyed the 1-0 victory over Germany in 2016.

Why don't you go and support Stephen Kenny at some other League of Ireland club?

Because that's what you'll be doing shortly.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

Scratch that! I think the thread has been deleted, I can't tell cause I've got a 2 week ban from the soccer forum. Apparently, starting a thread making suggestions for a new manager is a bannable offence. 'Anti Kenny posting' is the reason given by the mod. 🤣

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86 ✭✭redseat1

Oh are you one of those Giggsy and Scholesy posters on the wall Irish superfans that hate the club game here?

Tel me, do the barstoolers wear poppies too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,265 ✭✭✭Peter Flynt

I wouldn't know. I don't support any English team or Scottish team for that matter.

By your childish and juvenile name-calling you reveal what the rest of us know - It's not Ireland you support, it's Stephen Kenny. Maybe if the standard of football in the League of Ireland was not so poor then you wouldn't feel the need to call people names.

One thing for certain is we'll qualify for nothing with SK as manager. . . which fortunately won't be for too long now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,169 ✭✭✭Curse These Metal Hands

People seem to forget that every time after we qualified (twice in 20 years) we went to absolute shite after due to the papering over cracks mentality and short term thinking from the managers we got in.

Trapp in 2012, before you argue that we got the finalists in our group etc, look at the manner of the defeats. He spent years drilling us to be a difficult team to beat then we conceded a host of soft goals when it actually mattered. The wheels fell off then.

MON got us to the last 16 in 2016, there was a huge amount of fortune involved in that journey. Really the writing was on the while of what we were like as a team when Belgium obliterated us. Luckily, best place 3rd was a thing, and Italy had already qualified. Then the wheels fell off.

There has to be long term thinking involved, the pints and craic are nice when we do very rarely qualify, but I'd like to see us actually build on tournament experiences rather than them destroying the confidence of the team.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

I put that poster on ignore, I'd strongly advise it! But if you quote him I can unfortunately read his posts. I have to say, it is quite funny though, watching members of the Kenny cult in tears because their king has been exposed as a fraud. 🤣 Expect more childish rants up until Kenny is finally removed and probably for some time after.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

You want to talk about destroying the confidence of the team? How about all our good young players been brought into a set up that has a losing culture. Here's a breakdown of Kenny's reign:

Failure 1: Had a great chance to get a new manager bounce and qualify for Euro 2020 but lost to a depleted Slovakia team.

Failure 2: Only scored 1 goal and nearly came bottom of his first Nation's League group coming miles behind Wales and Finland.

Failure 3: Got effectively knocked out of World Cup qualification after 2 matches by losing to Luxembourg, came miles behind Serbia and Portugal.

Failure 4: Struggled past Armenia at home after losing away to avoid coming bottom of his second Nation's League, way behind Scotland and Ukraine.

Failure 5: Got effectively knocked out of Euro 2024 qualification after 2 matches by losing to Greece. Sitting just above Gibraltar, miles off the top 3.

Failure 6: Previous results, especially his second Nation's League have made it almost impossible to get a playoff for the Euros.

The confidence of our players is in bits.

Well despite your halfwitted ramblings you'll see that I haven't once said that Kenny is the right man for the job.

But those advocating for a return to the approach of the last 20 years are as equally deluded.

  • Site Banned Posts: 2,931 ✭✭✭Musicrules

What's with the abuse? You claimed Kenny had done some decent work, the facts I presented destroys that view. Can you defend Kenny's reign on its own merits without reverting to the past? Or without throwing out insults?

    The "rest of us"...😂😂

Is that what your gang of 3 or 4 posters sneering at the Irish club game on an anonymous forum is?

As for childish and juvenile name calling, I see you have no problem with posts about cults and LoI fanboys, posters wetting their pants and saying those with different opinions are liars while their own opinions are facts, and thinking they're Irish superfans. When you debate at that level, don't get all huffy when you're stuck in with the poppy waving barstoolers who love their Giggsy and sing about bindippers.
