I just heard there was a famine in Ireland from 1945 to 1952 WTF like on RTE.

    Contemporary Irish-Americans may have been the first to use the word 'genocide' but it was John Mitchel's The Last Conquest of Ireland (Perhaps) (1861) that was the first account of it as a deliberate, British-orchestrated starvation of Irish people.

    Mitchel called it "an artificial famine" and called the official British version of events "a fraud" in 1860.

    Mitchel was was living in Co. Down during the Famine, in his '30s, and wrote articles about it while it was going on.
