No not at all. Yes Ireland was very poor but there was no famine then. Our famine was from 1845 to 1852 and it was caused by Great Braitain taken all our food and exporting it while leaving the Irish to there potatoes that had gotten blight and were rotting. There was lots if food in the Country even then its just that it was being exported to the UK and the rest of the British Empires territories back then.

There was one in the late 1870's and another in the 1920's, but neither had anything like the death toll of the 1845-49 famine.

There was also an earlier one in the 1700's, depending on the definition of "famine" there may well have been a period where it met the definition post WW2.

there was very little fruit or any food imports in those years so alot more hares and rabbits ect were eaten, but there was no famine
