Where to try/get cycling glasses

My eyes stream no matter which shades I use. I suffer from hay fever so it gets worse in the summer. Where can I try/buy glasses?

Are you looking for prescription glasses or just something to keep out the elements? For cheap prescription cycling glasses I use specsavers, very limited range but do the job and ended up as a small extra for my 'free' second pair of specs.

Have you found wraparound frames in Specsavers? I asked in the local one last year, but they didn't have anything cycling specific. I have a set of polarised sunglasses I got there years ago which do the job, but they're not "cycling glasses" per se - they've fairly chunky arms which makes a glance over the shoulder more extreme than ideal

Sounds pretty much what I ended up getting so. Good wind protection but chunky enough arms. I have these bar end mirrors as a workaround, not bad but not ideal.

I bought Oakley Sutros last year and I love them. They're quite large so they cover a good portion of your face and definitely help against wind and insects. They're not cheap tho, I'd try them on before buying. Couple of bike shops have them.

I'd second trying the Oakleys - I always went for the cheapest sunglasses (starting with Lidl and most recently Galibier which are 40 euro-ish). I got a present of a pair of Oakley Jawbreakers a few months ago and I love them. They just go on at the start of the ride and I forget I am wearing them until getting back home. Worth the extra cost in my experience

Have to agree about the Oakleys, I've prescription Oakleys in clear for day to day use and in Sunglasses.

So wearing glasses all the time. I've found them great on the bike to keep stuff out of your eyes.

I had the same problem. Eyes would stream when cycling no matter what sort of weather and then that evening would be really sore as a result. Tried taking antihistamine but only helped a small bit

After a bit of research I found these glasses and ordered them. They are excellent and solved the problem. They have a insertable cup that clicks into the inside and creates a seal around the eyes but can still breathe although they steam up a small bit when climbing but can just drop them down the nose for a few second and put back on for a descent when needed

I got the basic one as they went straight in the bin as needed my own lenses fitted.

The company I bought from couldnt make the lense to my prescription level and neither would Specsavers, but the former recommend a company that could. So I to buy the glasses shipped to me. Then send them back to a UK company who made and fitted my lenses and shipped back to me. I had to include my spare glasses so the lense company could get my pupil distance diameter as Specsavers did not measure on my last visit.

All and all a bit of rigmarole but defo worth it in the end as they do the job I needed them to do perfectly.

I have a pair of Ali Express jawbreakers, probably been worn twice or three times, you could have them, try them for size, thereby working out what size lens/frame might stop the bugs and dust.

If you want them, PM your address and I'll post em off, or could meet Dublin city, if that suits.

I got so frustrated last week (am i'm dublin city center based) that I went into a shop after work last Thursday and just found a pair that fitted me and bought them (even though retail is more expensive). I have a pair of them also, I love the photochromic lens.

I work for Dublin Bus, so, if you want the Oakley reproductions, you're welcome to them some day in City Centre.

There is a chap in adverts selling fake jawbreakers (and others) for a tender plus postage. I have a few pairs from him and they have always worked well.

I lose my sunnies like clockwork (mtb not road) so can't bring my self to spend big loot.
