Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Unsurprisingly, no one managed to correctly predict Westmeath's shock draw against Wexford, or even come close to it. Everyone had that down as an easy Wexford win. Top scorer was RMAOK with 27 points. This extends their lead at the top of the leaderboard to 7 points over PTH2009.

Thanks to PTH2009 for putting the fixtures up.

PTH2009 was easily the top scorer this week with 20 points and this brings them back to joint top of the leaderboard with RMAOK. Looking like it's a straight shootout between these two as there's an 11 point gap to third (me).

Draw (Clare v Limerick after normal time)

Please check your scores and let me know if there are any mistakes.

RMAOK got 2 out of 3 results correct and was top scorer with 5 points. This pushes them to the top on their own with PTH2009 now 2 points behind.

All who predicted (which I did not) got both results correct, unsurprisingly. PTH2009 managed a bonus point in one of them and is the top scorer. RMAOK still leads but is now only a point ahead of PTH2009. It's definitely just between these two now!

None of us managed to predict Galway beating Cork. RMAOK was the only one to get a bonus point for the other game so they're the top scorer. RMAOK is now 4 points ahead at the top with only 3 games remaining (barring a draw in the final).

Nary a bonus point to be found this week. I was the only one to predict Kilkenny's win over Clare but nowhere close to the margin of victory. Everyone predicted Limerick's win but no one predicted Galway would get so close.

It's as you were at the top with RMAOK still 4 points ahead at the top with just the final to come.

Do the preseason predictions re competition winners etc still have to be factored in to the scoreboard.....?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,440 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Yep I'll add those scores after I calculate the last week's scores.

Please check your scores and let me know if there are any mistakes.

So the preliminary winner (prior to adding the bonus points) of the hurling pools is RMAOK with 160, 4 points ahead of PTH2009. Neither leader predicted the final result so there was no change in that regard.

I'll be adding up the initial predictions over the coming days (just to draw out the suspense).

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,440 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

Sorry guys, completely forgot to put up the final scores:

    Correct Initial Predictions:

    All Ireland SHC Champions: Limerick

All Ireland SHC Runners Up: Kilkenny

    Munster Champions: Limerick

    Leinster Champions: Kilkenny

    Joe McDonagh Champions: Antrim

    Joe McDonagh Runners Up: Kerry

    Joe McDonagh Relegation: Meath

    Christy Ring Champions: Kildare

    Christy Ring Runners Up: Mayo

    Christy Ring Relegation: Wicklow

    Nicky Rackard Champions: Tyrone

    Nicky Rackard Runners Up: Roscommon

    Nicky Rackard Relegated: Warwickshire

    Lory Meagher Champions: Louth

    Lory Meagher Runners Up: Longford

If you see any mistakes, please let me know.

So it turned out to be a walk in the park for RMAOK. 4 points ahead after the final, they correctly predicted 10 of the 15 initial predictions and scored a massive 20 points to win the overall competition by 16 points. PTH2009 comes in second with myself third and C4000 in fourth.

Congrats to RMAOK on their win and thanks very much to the few who took part. Hope it was a bit of craic. I'll see if I'll do the 2023 NHL pools closer to the time. I think with the new site there are fewer and fewer regulars in the forum so it may not be worth it.

Fair play lads, some great tipping by RMAOK to take the victory.
