Boot stud thread repair

I have a pair of Adidas Kakari Kevlar boots that are still in good condition aside from a stud thread that got ripped off on last weekend.

A quick google search returned a few kits for repairing the damaged thread. They consist of a drill bit, a few helicoidal inserts and a tool to place it. The inserts come in several thread sizes.

It is a shame to throw away otherwise perfectly fine boots and get new ones. Has any one done this before? Is there another way to fix the stud in place?
