I went with Carr communications for my HEO interview and was successful.

I would recommend them, it got me thinking about the interview differently and how to prepare my answers. Think I was on the wrong track till I worked with them and don’t think I would have passed without the session I did.

Thanks MDW, did they help with the presentation side of things or just the interview?

So I'm in the initial 2nd batch to be called but had to defer my original interview date so I'm up now the week of the 17th! So nervous about the presentation 🙈

Yes I knew it wouldn't be negotiable was just wondering how much info you can find out before accepting or declining given that it's so varied from one department to the next! Anyway, will worry about the interview first 🤣

Luckily I didn’t have to do a presentation so I was solely focused on the interview.

I believe they do give help with the presentation as well though if you want them to.

How much notice are people getting for interview dates?

It's 3 weeks notice. 7 days for presentation topic notice

I have my interview the week of 24th. Does anyone know what the topics for the presentation are?

It's based around the Programme for Government but topics seem to be different, so can't advise what 3 choices you will get.

    Best of luck with it!

Best of luck with the interview. Are you interviewing for Dublin or for the regions?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 TedS2017

    Thanks Dublin!

Do you know what number they've reached for the Dublin interviews?

Do you mind sharing the topics you got? Thanks and best of luck.😊

Those of you who have done the interview stage, did ye prepare an example using STAR method for Drive & Commitment to Public Service Values?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 knickyb

Drive and commitment is usually decided during management and delivery of results, how you completed training upskilling to allow you to deliver a fair transparent service to the citizens of Ireland or some bulls##t like that

Work an aspect of that into all your examples

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71 ✭✭Kerry987

For an internal comp we had to give an example on it in an application form so said I’d check. Thanks 😊

You can also try giving micro examples for each line of the competency rather than trying to a single example that covers it all

    Has anyone experienced this please?

I accepted a HEO place recently from 2019 competition. I was just offered an interview for this 2022 competition & hoping to land a more suitable work location this time.

From looking at the competition booklet, I now wonder if I am ineligible? Is there any point proceeding?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 226 ✭✭Skweefie

PAS will assume you have filled all the crireria right up to offer stage. Then when they check your suitability, you will be ineligible. The only way to get an alternative office is through the mobility scheme. The first requirement in the info booklet says you must be in a position lower than HEO to be eligible. If you are HEO already, you are ineligible. So yes, pretty pointless to continue.

I have used a person before who I previously used and found very useful. I have passed their details onto numerous people on boards before and i believe they have had successful outcomes, most recently was two people for HEO. I will PM you their details.

Would anyone who has done the presentation and interview be able to post the marking scheme, i.e what is the pass mark for both sections?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 knickyb

40% on both presentation and interview

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 knickyb

If you Google heo competencies and download the Pas heo competency basically the interview board ask questions for each of the lines in each competency...hope that makes sense

Got assigned today so I'm out of this thread ( hopefully never have to see another one) best of luck to everyone
