I've read through a few of the pages here but couldnt find the answer, so maybe someone knows off the top of their head. Currently with BG dual fuel. BG raised their electricity prices and give 30 days to move provider without a fee. Does this apply to both electricity and gas, or just electricity?

Yes I did, it states the following:

**As a result of this price change, you've the right to terminate your contract within the next 30 days. Your contract will continue if we don't hear from you within this period.

But the email was only in relation to electricity, rather than gas and electricity. So wasn't explicitly clear.

Got the final Energia bill eventually today,so up and running with EI since September 19th apparently- D/N 27.46c/13.54c with €75 credit.With my meter which is an hour slow, fierce handy in the mornings.So happy with that!👍

Is kilowatt.ie the only one that takes account of PV and projected PV generation?

I'm getting wildly different prices from it and energypal.ie or bonkers.ie

Eg kilowatt.ie recommends Pinergy @ -€900 credit

Energypal.ie rec EI @ €540 cost

Bonkers rec Flogas @ €990 cost

Any one else have this experience?

I do my own estimation based on last years use + a buffer.

Most appear to be 18.5c feed in tariff, so I can’t see it making a major difference to which is cheapest based on your non solar usage.

Yeah I wasn't aware that kilowatt uses a projected PV generation in their calculations until now. I only have solar a few months so it's really useful and changes the results by over €1000 in my case.

depends on individual setup, but with Pinergy still paying 25 cent, yes, it can make a big difference, if you can cope with that 3hour night window, which goes up from 5.45 inc vat, to 5.99 inc vat on October 13th

Thanks, I didn’t know that about Pinergy.

I’ve never given them any solid consideration before as I may have had them mixed up with prepay power, that used to require a prepay meter which I wasn’t interested in.

I've built a similar site for checking your usage, its at powersaver.ie - takes your esb file and shows you what each tariff would have cost you on that plan (for options such as, the entire file, last 12 months, or specify the date range from within the esb file)

Full disclosure - we do get paid by the suppliers for bringing them customers, we currently operate mostly in a very narrow market - tenants and landlords via Letting Agents. And for transparency, the results are listed in the order of cheapest first (based on your ESB usage file)

I just got frustrated recently when my own contract ended, and found published EABs to be nearly useless for making an informed decision. Of particular note, I would have expected that EV tariffs were attractive, but I can't yet see any EV plan that results in saving money (due to the more expensive rates across the rest of the week).

Please note, if you do follow the "Sign me Up" it will result in your supply being transferred - email me if you want it cancelled with the reference number you get.

I'd really appreciate any comments or suggestions, good or bad!

I don't show all Tariffs as yet, and obviously there are some we cannot sign you up for, but that's marked and it tells you to go directly to that supplier website instead.

Contract ending on Wednesday with Energia and think I've settled on not activating the smart meter still.

From EnergyPal says the cheapest standard plan is Flogas 30% discount with €149.99 welcome credit. No guarantee they won't increase the price in the year though, so I am tempted by the Flogas fixed plan too. Projected difference is €743 v €815 or import costs €591 v €513.

I think that means a price increase of 4.8c per unit would cancel out any savings if it was to occur as early as 3 months time. Not sure how likely that is? As a relatively low user (2150 units) the cash part changes everything.

Just gone with the EI offer. Was with Yuno, worked out i use about 33% of my useage at night and about 10% during peack, so worth going for the different rates vs one rate.

Apologies for being slightly off topic, but is anyone else finding that their smart meter usage data is often not accessible via ESB Networks site? I usually check at weekends and once again no charts are showing and no download data is available under My Energy Consumption after I log in.

Yes, have seen that quite a number of times. Seems completely random, my only advice is to continually check unfortunately.

ESBN seem to update their website feeds on Sundays & public holidays. Been like so for years. Check Monday during business hours

I switched my gas from SSE to flogas on the 25th sept

They are charging me €100 early exit fee - but my welcome package email states my contract was till the 22nd sept!!

I assume youve contacted them? Not unusual and they can resssue your bill. I'd cancel the DD now, I'd prefer they chase me for money than the opposite way round.

Definitely not the issue thanks. Zell12's explanation makes sense, although a bit silly on ESB's part as you'd imagine the weekend is the most popular time for people reviewing usage etc.

This seems to be a tactic by SSE now as its happened to a lot of us. I had to call them up and they re-issued the final bill without the incorrect early exit fee. I imagine a large number of people miss it from there final bills and end up with a €100 overpayment to SSE. I would have second thoughts now about ever returning to them
