Eamon Ryan has to be on the list, comes out with complete crap anytime he opens his mouth and falls asleep on the job.

You know its bad when nearly half his own loser party wanted him gone.

Mary Mitchell O Connor is another one, not Galways finest export, although she did fool the posh folks in Dun Laoghaire who voted her in.

And finally after their ill advised little stunt telling Ukrainians NATO were as bad as Putin we have to include Murphy and his looney far left buddies in PBP.

He’s not the worst in Tipperary - that goes to Michael Lowry (the criminal) or Jackie Cahill (only heard from every 4 years getting ready for the election) - I don’t like Mattie’s religious ferver and Christ knows where he got that accent cos even us locals cant understand him - but he’s a decent human being which is not something you can say about most TDs and he does get up and speak for the people - we just can’t understand what he’s saying!!

Definition of stupidity - voting for the same gombeens, sometimes for decades, and expecting change - stop voting for them and get in new, younger, forward thinking diverse people.

It’s legal in many countries so civilised is a rather stupid word to use in fairness

The "UP THE RA" Sinn Fein guy in Waterford.

Violet never came across as the sharpest tool in the box, sort of accidentally voted in and much to her own surprise. How many other oddballs do SF have waiting around in the wings chancing their arm for a seat?

Someone mention Eamon O'Cuiv - no idea what's he like as a local TD but that man is responsible for one of the most troublesome pieces of legislation in our 100 year history - the Official Languages Act 2003 which has put the minority Irish language lobby into the position of riding the rest of us. The implications of legally implementing the farcical idea that Irish is the REAL primary language of the state affect all of us to varying extents. A dangerous man who actions in this matter cause unnecessary difficulties for those who aspire to a united Ireland by consent.

    It's a ridiculous thread.

Sinn feiners will simply just pick any TD that challenges them / popular. Or whoever Belfast tells them to do.

FF people will target a mix of sf and fg

    FG people will target sf.

Greens will target any road supporting TD.

Labour don't know what to do

Social democrats just despise FG, so any of them will do

Pbp people are probably not on the thread as I don't believe that they can read.

At the end of the day it's a 3 way tie between Ming, Wallace and Daly.

There was some Labour guy with a combover who had to resign for texting wee girls

The guy who left the Sop Dems because he got fed of the interminable moralising, posturing and fence sitting beloved of the two wise virgins?

The guy who had the balls to try to do a real job instead of getting an easy ride from the media for preaching while doing SFA?

For me, Steevie Dee has ten times the cojones and political courage than that pair of preening wasters (and their lightweight, virtuous acolytes) have! (And I have never voted FF in my life!)

    Not so I'm afraid.

I've absolutely Zero political affiliation whatsoever. I judge a localised TD on their performance, there's actually 2 FF TD'S (Absolute Clowns), 1 SF (Complete Buffoon), and Independent, Former SF (Competent) and 1 FG ( Eminently dislikable) , I should mention we've a Green Senator and Junior Minister (Words actually escape me has to how to describe her incompetence)

So, I have objective and Equal distain for TD'S who perform badly from all and any political persuasion, no favoritism from me, I can assure you.

You would have to think Coppinger and Paul Murphy for their daft socialism, Haughey, Bertie et al for being crooked, Hogan, Deasy and all the other arrogant entitled, maybe Catherine Murphy and Shorthall for having an opportunity of ministeries but chickening out...lots more in the same vein.

However all of these had at least some intelligence and wit.

So, my nomination for the worst ever is Patricia Ryan, SF TD for South Kildare who has no perceivable attribute being obviously uneducated, dumb and incoherent to the point that she has difficulty in even reading her prepared speeches that are obviously written for her!

Surprised Johnny Bruton and his brother weren't mentioned.

Historically I'd guess Conor Cruise O'Brien must be in the running.

There was a guy called Hugh Conaghan up in Inishowen for about 30 years and did nothing.

Dinny McGinley in West Donegal couldn't even manage to get the potholes on the road past his house fixed.

So many bad TD's across the political spectrum. I bet if there was a best TD thread many of those mentioned here would also get a mention there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 26,931 ✭✭✭✭Dempo1

Has the Hapless Norma "Fringe " Foley been mentioned, I've rarely seen a TD who attracts instant Distain the minute she opens her Mouth, (Heather Humphries, the same), Norma ,always immaculately turned out, Fetching fake fur coats , not a hair out of place , has the charisma of a Maniquin, actually...............😏

Has Dev been mentioned yet, possibly one of Irelands greatest ever gangsters, who people still regard in high esteem

All of them. I don't trust any of them. Once they get into that shithole dail up in the big shmoke they lose all their great ideas and crumble for some reason.wasters the lot of them

surely it has to be yer one back in the 90's who got voted in through the multi channel TV signal debacle - don't think she did a tap while in there completely out of her depth 🙃 daft affair altogether

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,093 ✭✭✭chicorytip

Which one? I am guessing you mean Michael J."Cowshed" Noonan former FF minister for defence (briefly) and TD for Limerick West. The nickname derives from the occasion he invited Charlie Haughey to perform the official opening of his new milking parlour.

Peadar Clohessy is my nomination. He of the eloquent shoulder shrug.

Naw, the yellow toothed, misogynistic, greedy minister for ill- health

I can't figure out how anyone can give a vote to Gogarty. He's a complete and utter gobshite.

    Life ain't always empty.

Possibly a surplus of gobshites in that constituency?

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,972 ✭✭✭✭Hotblack Desiato

So Stephen Donnelly of Fianna Fail is the Soc Dem's worst TD?

    Uhuh.

    Life ain't always empty.

Michael Woods committed the taxpayer to spending well over a billion euro without even a Dail vote.

Most corrupt decision in the history of Irish politics. Bailing out the church he's so fond of.

He's rumoured to be a member of Opus Dei.

    Life ain't always empty.

It's not outside the bounds of possibility he was or will be at some stage in the future a member of that party.
