Worst TD ever elected

I think the worst ever was the Donegal TV Deflector guy in 1997, the only time he spoke in the Dail was to come out with incoherent sentences attacking MMDS

    Mod note

Be careful of making libelous statements about named individuals

Think Waterford has the monopoly on this one ! We have had several excellent candidates for the title ! Ciara Smiler Conway, John Smoker Deasy, Mary Kilkenny Butler, Martin Evoter Cullen actually delivered something for the electorate here. Oh nearly forgot John Aliens Halligan. I'm sure there more but it's a start

    Phil Hogan

I cannot think of one good thing that slimeball has ever done

Not saying he's the worst ever, but Bernard Durkin has been a TD for 40 years. He was briefly a Minister for State and an opposition spokesman a few times. That he was never considered for something better was an indictment of how poor he is.

What has he achieved in 40 years in the Dail? Answer is nothing. A glorified councillor, gets hedges cut and the odd pothole filled, opposes anything progressive, but stands at the front of every photo when they're cutting ribbons. Wasted career IMO.

What about the obvious ones. Wallace.. Ming Flanagan, clare daly.

Vradkar. The most despised man in any department he's been responsible for.

Phil Hogan by far, despise the fat headed obnoxious fucker so much I would physically go for him if I ever saw him in the street.

I saw this thread and Ciara Conway was the first name I thought of, you beat me to it😂

Brian Cowen. He managed to get to the highest office where his utter ineptitude was exposed for all to see.

Jaysus where do you start there have been so many. Regina Doherty, Michael Woods, lawlor, Gormley to name but a few

Special place for him alright. What a waste of a vote. Can’t believe nobody has mentioned Danny Healy Rae yet.

Lowry would be up there, more brown envelopes than you can shake a stick at

    toss up between

    Ruth Coppinger and Paul Murphy

Has to be Fine Gael's Dara 'moonlighting' Murphy. Two jobs for the absentee TD.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,862 ✭✭✭Mysterypunter

Not 100% on that for sure, but she has basically disappeared, not that she was too prominent even when elected

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,184 ✭✭✭✭L1011

Wynne in Clare. Entirely unsuited to be on a community council let alone a TD.

Tom Gildea (MMDS guy) seems to have spoken in the Dail four times, all about MMDS. He was on the Public Accounts Committee and a tiny bit more involved there. That said, people voted for him as a single issue candidate on MMDS!

Surely Paul Gogarty has to get a mention , former green TD and epic clown.

Regina Doherty definitely up there, Horrid individual.

But just a quick reminder of Mr Gogarty in action 😁 Eamonn Ryan would be horrified.

What about yer wan down Clare way that ripped off the housing charity? Didn't she have a load of crackpot theories and then had to do an abrupt about-turn on them after her party HQ told her to wind her neck in?

Edit: L101 got in before me and mentioned her above

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,832 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

Had never heard of him until the whole Brexit thing kicked off but I have to say that any time I saw him on the telly that he came across very well and always stood his ground. I don't know anything about him other than what I've seen him in interviews so maybe you have more information?

    Plenty of options...

    Wallace, a disgrace to Wexford

    Lowry the snake

    Violet Ann Wynn

    Martin Browne

Paul Murphy, the commie Peter Pan

    Pee Flynn

    Pauline Tully

But Danny Healy Ray is the heavyweight champ of bad TDs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,213 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    Paul Murphy.

the country is on its arse with covid… hospital waiting lists months and months and months if not years, departments such as hydrotherapy in the Mater closed due to lack of funding, I was told that by a referring consultant last week, fûck all money, yet Murphy wants hundreds or thousands more Afghans to be granted asylum….

    free…

    accommodation

    cash

    medical cards / healthcare

    Travel

People waiting years to PAY for procedures yet Murphy wants them to go to the back of the Q and pay twice for the privilege.

he lives in a dreamland… only enabled by the fact he earns close to 100,000, probably has private healthcare… so it’s fûcking easy to sit back and pontificate that we should accept xxxxx people, pay €€€€€€€€ to ensure their wellbeing while our own in turn is compromised and we PAY for that…

we could always close an operating theatre in X hospital and we can accept more…

on average 200 Gardai retire per year, if we only replace 100….

Ivor Callelly. That was when he was a Senator. Already nominated above for his interesting mobile phone expenses.

He went to prison for the phone expenses. The Cork stuff was unproveable.

    How could you forget

That's not the wicked witch from the wizard of Oz, it's Clare Daly .

Mick Wallace , Wexfords Loss, Iraq's Gain

Clare Daly, Dublins Loss, Iraq's Gain.

Two of the most Horrid individuals ever to have graced the floor of the Dail , now making absolute eejits of themselves as MEP's , truly ghastly individuals.

The bould Micko has accused NATO of forcing Russia to invade Ukraine

Poor oul' Vlad. He only has Micko to stick up for him against all the meanies in the West

As for the Iraq thing, it was alleged at the time that Micko only suggested it as he wanted Clare to go full burkha as he was fed up at seeing her moany head. It probably wasn't true

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,176 ✭✭✭✭billyhead

She was on holidays in the Canaries at the time the election results were called. She in no way expected to get elected. What were the electorate in Clare thinking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,177 ✭✭✭Fandymo

Helen McEntee is the answer. All of the others went in hoping to change things or grab as much loot as they could.

McEntee is awful, with nothing much between the ears. Rewarding illegals with a golden pass to Ireland, the repercussions of which will be felt for decades.

He was seen jogging along Clontarf promenade at the same time claiming travel and subsistence for a trip from Cork to Dublin. Absolute chancer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 71,184 ✭✭✭✭L1011

I think that was the Kildare South candidate (Patricia Ryan).

Absolutely nobody expected her to get elected, the assumption was Mark Wall would walk in to the added seat and yet she topped the poll. She'd barely even campaigned!

Have you seen the TDs they normally elect? Thinking is not a strong point down that way

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,832 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

I think she had failed to get elected to the local county council the previous year. As in nowhere near competitive in terms of votes. Am open to correction on that though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 638 ✭✭✭gary550

She is one miserable individual who probably hates you unless you have a vagina or are any other colour than white.

I'm going to throw mr window salad box Eamon Ryan in the mix. A miserable motorist hating, carbon tax loving tree hugger who personifies everything wrong with the inept political class in this little country.

Helen is an enigma, likeable, efficient has empathy, 3 traits not normally found in a FG TD, but there's just something, can't put my finger on it.

The Indo latched onto her earlier in the week, a few stories about questionable Political donations, a large party after her election held at Tayto Park, owner wrote 3 cheques to help her campaign in breach of donation rules. Story went no where (Yet). I somehow sense if it was any other TD, the media would have been all over this like flys around Shyte, so to speak 🤔

Likeable? Efficient? Empathy? In what world? If she was a colour it’d be beige. She doesn’t seem to be able to construct a sentence if she isn’t given a script.
