To anyone adopting a dog my advice is to take the dog on a foster basis for at least 3 weeks, as it takes 3 weeks for the dog to settle any bit. We adopted a dog from a rescue in limerick, after 3 weeks the dog snapped at one of the teenagers after 3 months the dog bit. Each time it was going for the face. The first time we put it down to the dog settling in, but we could make an excuse the second time so we asked to return the dog.

Rescue dragged its heals taking the dog back took over two weeks before we could return the dog as they had no space, all the while kids were uneasy with the its presence. I suggested that the dog be returned on the basis that it go to an adult only home but was told the dog was suitable for a teenage home. The dog was readvertised for adoption while I still had her and I was told they had 2 home viewings. Dog was an ex breeder and after I returned the dog I found online that she had already been rehomed months prior to i adopting her to Northern Ireland and returned. 3 home in less than 12 months at €300 per adoption fee. Put us off doing the right thing and adopting.
