In relation to the thread of “mixed race couples on tv ads”

That got me thinking, why do media company’s not use traveller or Roma family’s to promote products or company’s like they do with mixed race couples or LGBT couples

when had a positive promotion ad campaign with the travellers ever been shown

The thing about the mixed race couples is that the companies are already on the right side of history. The same goes for the explosion in pride month rebrands for the gay community - this is low hanging fruit for these companies, its not really going to damage their brand. If they had promoted mixed race or gay couples in the 70s when it wasn't fashionable they should be applauded, but doing it now is just jumping on a bandwagon

Fair play to any company trying to promote inclusively for travellers, there would be a real risk of a backlash but it would also have a huge impact for a seriously marginalised community. Most won't bother until others do the hard work and it becomes fashionable though

What exactly would you have a traveller advertise?!

Maybe I'm a cnut but if I seen a traveller promoting a product, I'd dodge it like the plague.

Have you got a link to the mixed race couples one please? Definitely something Ive noticed in ads lately, its so pandering and annoying once you start noticing it (the cynical way advertisers use them that is, not the idea itself obviously)

No, it's probably the same way a load of well healed D4 heads can point me out as a lower middle class bit of rough at a party. Anyway whatever it is travelers have a certain look that anyone with any bit of savvy can point out a mile away.

A lot of them have a feral look... some have more of an inbred (mongs, as they term each other) look.... then there's the way they talk, dress, and walk; plus who's alongside them (even easier to tell if there's a few of them together) is another clue..

Then there are about 10-20% that might be difficult to spot... they're rarely seen too far from home on their own either; out walking and the like, because a lot of them do have enemies...

I'd say, at a conservative guess, your average Joe or Josephine Soap would clock them over 60% of the time (not bad given they're only 1% of population)

#all this is just one biased prejudiced poster's opinion... I haven't conducted any studies neither..
