Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

And pissing themselves laughing when failing to score so much as a single run off a full toss…

a losers mindset… cricket Ireland have been in receipt of well over a million in taxpayers money from grants…

Adair in and hits a 6…. It can be done.

Disappointing result but we've seen it so many times by now. Good bowling at the start, get a couple of wickets but then allow one partnership to score a load of runs giving the opposition a competitive total. Then after losing one wicket cheaply we get a decent second and third wicket partnership which gives some hope but after that partnership falls the run rate falls the required run rates starts to increase to around 10 a over and we start losing wickets fairly regularly and we end up losing by 30 or 40 runs. Our batting is so weak once we lose two or three wickets.

Not one but two match winning positions thrown away.

The match was lost very simply by rotating the strike.

At 63/4 Pollard and Brooks happily took ones and twos, played themselves in then teed off. Ireland played far too many dots, Porterfield had a nine ball duck😡, even when they were set Balbirnie and Tector played too many dots, it was like they were laying a platform for Jos Butler to come in. The run rate got away from them and a very average middle order couldn't hit the boundaries to win it. Instead they got out to one ridiculous shot after another.

I've said it before, but they need to go the passport route ASAP. In the mean time get McCollum and Commins into the side in place of Dockrell and Porterfield.

id love to know how many dot balls were in that innings… had to be over sixty..

  • Registered Users Posts: 144 ✭✭fergiesfav

It's not even just the amount of dots, obviously you can't score off every ball, but I'd love to see a stat for how many premeditated blocks were played. There were times Balbirnie was going to block regardless of the delivery. Himself and Tector seemed more obsessed with not getting out than scoring. Very very negative and stupid considering the lack of firepower coming in later

Ireland lose two super league points for the slow over rate on Saturday

Tomorrow's ODI postponed after more positive covid cases in Ireland camp

Games rescheduled to 13th and 16th January with the single ODI binned.

Given it's covid though there has to be a reasonable chance they don't go ahead

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Balbirnie not in team today due to a covid positive test so Paul Stirling is captain for the game.

Ireland win the toss and will field

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,813 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Before the 4 first ball of this over there were more extras then runs off the bat.. 8.3 overs and 12 wides…. 1 leg bye….a ridiculous number extras off wides for that many overs.. then Young offers more width then O’Connell st and is punished both times.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Got a wicket.

WI three down now - 43/3 off 13.5. Bowling has tightened a lot after too many loose deliveries in the opening overs. Not too many boundaries or even scoring shots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

have to keep them under pressure with lots of dots and ideally wickets. The wides seem to have dried up at least

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,813 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Putting down absolutely gimmie chances Campher off his own bowling…jeeez… took his eyes off it not once, but twice and although still directly under it let’s it slip through his own fingers… he should have called for it, kept his eyes on it and caught it not allow himself be distracted…. We had the West Indians behind the 8 ball, not so much now.

Yes, certainly is…, hattrick ball, no leg slip, ball goes off the bat to leg slip or where he would have been… now there is a leg slip.

    🤓

pThey could do with a short leg in,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

wicket followed by back to back sixes.

Anything up around 200 wont be straightforward for our fragile batting line up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Terrible drop Stirling

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,813 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    Smith… 46 off 18…jeeez

28 extras of which 26 were wides…. That could cost us.

    STOP FÜCKING BOWLING WIDES !!!

You'd almost be better off reversing your batting order against Ireland in ODIs given how often this happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 906 ✭✭✭whatawaster81

How do they do it? Get in to a great position then inexplicably throw it away. Like do they switch off. 50 and 46 from the two tail enders.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,061 ✭✭✭blackcard

It is truly staggering how often Ireland manages to turn an extremely good position into a losing position.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭Fattybojangles

That's unforgivable they were 143-8 ended with 229 shocking should have been 170 all out at worst hopefully we get opening partnership but this looks like a defeat snatched from the jaws of victory again.

Is it psychological ? Do the hard work and relax a bit ?

    Romario Shepherd just scored 50.

His batting average is 5 in ODI’s.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,813 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Typical Ireland, 15 runs off that over, then Stirling goes searching for a ball he can’t do anything with on the front foot and he edges it to slip.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,813 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

15 runs, followed by a maiden

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

after getting off to such a good start there was surely no need to continue being so aggressive given the relatively low target and that Balbirnie is missing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Bah, that's a pity mcbrine

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,813 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Campher plays all around a straight one, why ? Ahead of the rate just keep going !

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,813 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Covers are coming off I’m reading

scratch that, rain again… Ireland well ahead on DL.

pity though I was enjoying that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

    Game on soon apparently

Any idea of the cut off time for play to resume?

Edit: just confirmed It's 10:43 so not long to wait

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

The reasons for early Irish aggression more clear now..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,813 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Playing and Ireland win by 5 wickets…I was watching the snooker so took my eye off it….winning with 3.2 overs to spare after DL set them 168 as the target…the google feed didn’t refresh when I refreshed the page grrr but saw the last over… a reasonably comprehensive win…great we can go away to the West Indies and go toe to toe with them, being more then just competitive…

the Stirling catch off McBrine was class…pure athleticism…

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭Fattybojangles

Great win to beat WI in their own back yard is huge.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Great win. Should really be looking at a series win already in fairness.

In fact given some of the throw aways we should actually be in a decent spot for WC qualification at this stage.

Still, credit to them, with all the covid stuff that is a fantastic win

  • Registered Users Posts: 75 ✭✭No_Hope_Club

Century for Joshua Cox for u19s in world Cup opener against Uganda. Ireland posted 236/9.

40/3 after 15 is the reply so far.

Ireland win toss and will field in the ODI series decider

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Windies got off to a flier but Ireland have hit back with 3 wickets. 85/3 after 15 overs

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,128 ✭✭✭Fattybojangles

99/5 now serious chance to bowl these out for less than 200 now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,578 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL
