I don't have any idea how you make it out to be a great card.

The main event has a guy whose never beaten anybody in good form taking on a guy on a, I think it's 12 fight win streak?

The co-main has a guy that's been knocked out by Moreno and previously subbed by Pantoja. Guess what's going to happen there.

Rakhmonov will stop Wonderboy like he has everybody else.

The Ferguson and Emmett fights are basically just about good enough to be fight night main events.

    You talk some nonsense.

Anyone interested in meeting in the mountains for large bareknuckle free for alls at Dawn the first Sunday of every month? You can wear bike gloves , no kitchen gloves allowed either , at all. no boots, bare feet or wet proof socks, no rubber on foot or hand wear permitted, you sadists.

Last man standing kind of thing, no weight allowance, we all know that crap is garbage, albeit anyone caught pickin on minos, gets a doin, if ness?

I will paste every one of yiz, you know who I am bitches?

Any sexual assaults result in immediate refused entry until further notice, albeit excuses are given for unintentional wood generated during long engrossing footlocks that go on for extended periods.

women can enter, but must bring a protector who is only allowed intervene if they are in danger of breaking the rules or over pinning other female competitors.

I can supply med support, I have a team of physicians and Tallaght hospital is only 10 20 mins away, unless we are on the Bhearna Bhaoil. I own a chopper so we have that option. I don't want the shays involved, shays can enter, but must declare, unless they are NSU, well obviously ya creeps, in fact pelase stay away or I will tell the Krav Naga dude who coaches to spot you. He wants in, but will yield if she gets as far as me. She is a bear in the sack btw. A complete degen.

Anyone not interested in competing are more than welcome to help and get involved and of course watch. All ethnicities albeit Irish Family members must declare before milé commencement, but all welcome. I would not feel full without giving the whole country the doin it is asking for.

I was on the phone To Vladamir a couple of weeks back, he says he would love to see how it goes, he famously arranges with other Judo Fanatics, albeit at the Kremlin Gymnasium with non government fighters only allowed by invitation and admission by homosexuals is forbidden. I am not sure about looping the chunt in on that bass, I have no issue with scrappin shirt lifters , they all drop the same way, albeit screamers can yelp in a varied octave of agony, as they crumple into a decrepid ball of squirming pain, uncontrollably shaking like an epileptic, on the cold baron turf, where their defeated body lies.

Tapping out is absolute. Anyone caught over working on a tap out doesn't get off the mountain... ever.

PM for meet up, sun 7 jan. I reckon that private ruin down from Turlington hill, lord Sandwiches brothel.

It's amazing how you just say it's a great card, I respond and you've nothing to say so instead of not posting you put up that crap.

Cop on to yourself, it's not like you are a teenager.

It is a good card. I'm looking forward to all of the main fights.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,402 ✭✭✭Man Vs ManUre

I think it’s a good card. Colby fights are always good, they often go the full 5 rounds but at an unreal pace, he never runs out of energy and is non stop pounding his opponent. Saying all that, Leon is fav so it should be a great fight. The Paddy Tony fight should be fun, 2 big personalities and a legend at the end of his career vs a new young lad with big potential.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,512 ✭✭✭Homelander

It's a huge fight for both. This is Tony's last chance to get a win. Paddy really has to win to be taken seriously in the division, Tony has not looked competitive really in any of his last five losses apart from R1 with Chandler. If Paddy lost his stock would take a fair dip.

Having said that I'd like Tony to win. His fall off has been one of the worst.

Stick to the slurs, they suit you better than idioms

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,058 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

You don't like it when you get told do you?

I never can fathom how somebody feels it's okay to give it but can't take it themselves

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 742 ✭✭✭barryribs

Tell us another story about how you are so athletic and inspire children to compete.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,058 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

What's the pic of Sonnen about?

I'm not here to discuss my personal life in this thread.

This has nothing to do with mma or Ian Garry.

I'm not dealing with any more immature stuff.

Also, myself and MD are going at it for 15+ years every now and then. Neither of us ever take it personally.

You had no need to go jump in as his protector, he's well capable of doing that himself.

And I have great respect for the guy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 742 ✭✭✭barryribs

What's the pic of Sonnen about?

I've no interest in educating you about about the sport outside of the UFC, go look it up yourself

I'm not here to discuss my personal life in this thread.

    In this very thread

I train kids in multiple sports. I work a lot with gifted kids and try and build a desire in them and get them to work hard.

Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to do MMA but I had ability. I was messing around with an MMA fighter when I was 29 years old. He was trying to pin me down but couldn't because I had good movement with every part of my body.

As for the rest, I'm glad your not dealing with any more immature stuff. It might be worth spending that time popping into one of the 25 Down Syndrome Ireland branches around the country. You'll find their location here https://downsyndrome.ie/our-branches/ and you can find out about the great work they do here https://downsyndrome.ie/what-we-do/

It might help stop you using disgusting slurs

Oh just noticed it’s only available on box office, won’t be watching live so. ☹️

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,058 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I couldn't believe that when I read your post but then it came to me. Leon is a Brit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,283 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    I think it’s a fantastic card.

Leon v Colby is an excellent title fight. The press conference stuff has made it even more interesting. Colbys pressure vs Leon’s striking, I think Colby will get it done but I am biased in his favour.

Pantoja v Royval will probably be fight of the night. Expecting a back and forth war.

Dying to see Shavkat again and if he does decide to keep it standing Wonderboy will pose problems. His distance control and awkward style are tricky for anyone. Would be a shock if he wins but would love to see it.

Hope Tony beats Paddy, can’t stand him. Don’t see it though, he’s too old and past it.

If Mitchell can avoid the big KO shot from Emmett I expect him to do similar to what he did against Barbosa and grind out a decision.

Some solid undercard fights as well

Geoff Neal lined up for him at 299, a much harder fight given he won't have a massive size advantage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,685 ✭✭✭✭Mellor

Most people don't associate retard with down's syndrome anymore. To the point that I'd be shocked (and a bit disgusted tbh) if people automatically made that connection when they hear the world.

Obviously I'm aware that it has it's origins in the medical field. As were moron, idiot, imbecile. Ironically those words were considered offensive in the 50s and replaced with retard. Which in turn was replaced with handicapped, which is on its way out now too as considered offensive as it refers to the medical implication.

Language is cyclical. If issue is not the word, but the way in which people use them. Huge difference in using the word in reference to a random idiotic sportsperson and a person with a mental disability.

Do you think Neil is an harder or easier match up than Luque ? I know he knocked Luque out but he also got beat by Magny ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 742 ✭✭✭barryribs

I think Neal's power, takedown defense and his boxing are going to be a problem. Both are much better barometers to see where he lies in the division than Magny

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,902 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Neal has struggled with taller fighters, Holland , Magny, Rakmonov , Even Thompson who is only 6ft but fight's long ,

Garry will be aware of that and enjoys fighting at range, He seems to get caught with left hooks when he loses his distance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 742 ✭✭✭barryribs

And should have probably lost to Ponzinibbio too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,259 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

So where does Garry go now? Surely he doesn't go back to Sandford MMA after Brendan Allen publically talking sh*t about him and the whole Jason Jackson thing? Will he have to find a new gym full-time I wonder?

  • Registered Users Posts: 690 ✭✭✭US3

Why wasn't the Luque fight rescheduled and why nearly 4 months away if it was just a flu. Seems strange.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,902 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

It should have never been booked to begin with

They are teams mates and there was no hype or talk of it at all until all the stuff about Ian & his wife came out,

The Neal fight was already supposed to happen but Neal got injured and you'd imagine he was on the phone begging Dana for the fight after the t-shirt thing, that of course Ian said was his wifes idea

    ,

Usually you turn into an arrogant arsehole after you become champ, but this fella is already an absolute diva, pissing off renowned coaches before he scratches top 10. Its a pity, with the right guidance he could be a hell of a talent.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,442 ✭✭✭weemcd

It would seem he's not popular there either... if he has some kind of setup in Brazil that works for him he should probably stay there and be consistent, rather than gym hopping every 3 months.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,446 ✭✭✭LollipopJimmy

The gym hopping doesn't seem to be by choice. He's been an absolute diva his entire pro career. How he behaved in KF was apparently despicable. His manager has a serious grip on him, so much so he has apparently now stopped speaking with his family.

Crazy he put that hype video out two days before the fight or something. Surely he’d have known at that stage he was doubtful to make it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,058 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Is his partner his manager? She certainly seems to have control over him.

I'd wonder if she's behind all this stuff? Imagine he comes home and says he likes a new coach, she'd be afraid he would start taking advice from him so kicks it off.

I'm only surmising here but she does seem to be a big problem.

Seem's Ian's been badly advised again by his Wife,

His latest post about Strickland seem very badly timed,

Strickland got a lot of admiration & sympathy opening up about his childhood trauma & Ian or his wife took that as the time to clap back & say the shoes ion the other foot the post wasn't even smart or witty ,

Ian only a few months ago calling out tried to cancel Mangy for saying he'd whoop his kids ass in a figure of speech, then has a go at a man talking about a horrific & troublesome child hood, Scream's of his wife trying to get one up on Sean for him slagging her off,

Bad timing & not ereaidng the room well ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,442 ✭✭✭weemcd

Between the two of them they've managed to turn Garry into one of the most universally disliked fighters in MMA.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,902 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

You can try manufacturer a personality , All you can do is lean into the one you already have ,

She started with the goal of making him into the next Conor but you can;t just create that Conor had charisma & was brash & quick witted, Ian is a nice lad who is trying hard to be something he is not & its cringe and see through ,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,058 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Fully agree with that. He let the human side out when talking about his partner and child and how much he loves them and how important they are in his life.

This isn't him, as said above he's been badly advised and it's got to be his partner.

Talking about his family is something you don't often hear from MMA fighters. He could be the cool, clean hero if he was left alone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,446 ✭✭✭LollipopJimmy

The original statement that Team KF put out at the time of the split was telling. He completely changed when she got in his ear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,902 ✭✭✭✭yourdeadwright

Anyone see his recent MMA hour interview , he;ls clearly reading scripted parts written from something below him,

Also the long pause when Ariel says you said you wanted to be a disrupt-er so after the Magny stuff surely you expected things back , Awkward long pause

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,058 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Here is an interview from four years ago. It's nothing like what's happening nowadays. It's the real Ian Garry, nothing weird about him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 690 ✭✭✭US3

You've a weird obsession with trying to change peoples opinions on him. The youngfella is a clown always has been, good fighter but a complete empty vessel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,058 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Have you read the recent posts in the thread? There's a consensus here that his partner is the issue.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,446 ✭✭✭LollipopJimmy

He came across really well in his early career. Then it all went wrong, if that was her or just a mask slipping I don't know.

I think he tried to copy Conor in being loud, cocky, agressive and controversial. He doesn’t have the same charisma, charm, wit, even good looks and style that Conor has so he just can’t carry it off. Who could really?? Conor is a 1-off and was extremely likeable up until the Floyd promotion. Throw in the weirdness that the wife and domestic situation brings to IG and he is now an easy target. He is a hell of a fighter tho.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,058 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I think his partner is behind all this. If he was just his normal self like he was early in his cage warriors career he'd be very popular. He's Irish, he'll be hugely popular just being normal.

    Conor, good looks???? 😂

Conor is the exception to every rule. He started out funny and his wit brought him loads of fans. He then got aggressive and got more fans. He then got nasty and still his fan base grew.

There's never been anything like him in MMA and there never will be.

I think he should start up his own MMA company. Proper MMA/ fighting championship would be a good name I think. He's so big he'd drag a huge amount of fans with him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,259 ✭✭✭✭MrStuffins

So Garry seems to have moved to Brazil full time and is training with Chute Box. Footage of him training appears on episode 1 of Embedded.

He says something like "Brazil is where I live and where I will die" and gets quite emotional when talking about his team and how they've supported him for the fight.

Of course his wife gets a good bit of screen time for some reason.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭hawaii501

What is wrong with him, saw the wife and child in the gym.

I wonder how long he'll last this time.
