Car floor/carpet cleaning.

When I clean my seats its usually only a light cleaning, but if there is an accident or spill I'l remove and go to town on it. With the blow heater and the seat being out of the car it makes light work of the job. Same goes for mats.

However with the flooring carpet I've often wondered how lads/ladies tackle this. Do you soak it with a dedicated/AP cleaner then quickly aggitate and hoover up? Do you prefer a dry foam/shampoo let it sit for a bit then aggitate and wipe/hoover up.

Given the amount of electronics under some flooring allowing too much water could cause electrical problems, but my biggest concern is smells. Anyone who has "soaked" a floor and not given it a proper hoover (wet/dry vac) will know the wetter it is the longer it takes to dry. Even when it dries if it takes too long then you get a wet/damp smell which can turn sour quickly.

So what do you use, what is your process, and any other hints, tips, or adivce for a good cleaning as I'd be interested in comparing and learning.
