Chimaev looked like death on the scales today and there were some towel shenanigans again.

I always get caught out by the earlier start times, so prelims starting at 5pm tomorrow with the main card scheduled for 7.

Should be a banger of a card

Chimaev looked extremely ropey on the scale but I still fancy him to win via Smesh!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 761 ✭✭✭barryribs

Very technical fight to get the card started, right decision IMO

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 761 ✭✭✭barryribs

Petroski is an awful fighter, gassed after 90 seconds, all power and no technique on any of the submissions. Looking forward to making money against him when he comes up against someone half decent.

That was a bad KO. Can't remember a fighter being on the canvas for that long.

This ref is beyond bad, never once looked like he was going to step in and stop this

I know saint denis is still in this but how much damage does a fighter need to take before common sense takes over?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 761 ✭✭✭barryribs

Disgraceful refereeing in that fight. Its hard to imagine that fight being reffed worse than it was.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Ref removed from his next assignment tonight and out for the night, doubt we'll see

    him again in the ufc

    Is that a first?

That speaks volumes but how do some of these guys get their licence?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

Now that's how you ref right there

Jason herzog possibly the best out there

Kopylov is so game here despite being in such a bad position incredible heart and toughness

Low on skill but high on entertainment.

Great fight, Tukhugov's cardio looked much better this time round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,133 ✭✭✭hawaii501

Chimaev is the real deal, unreal performance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Chimaev looks a talent.

Was hoping he'd called out Burns next.

Surely a Chimaev title shot can't be long away...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Esse85

If he wins his next two, especially with such ease.

Was probably telling Dana to pencil him in for Madison Square Garden next weekend.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Esse85

Seems to have that madman mentality needed to be a champion in this sport.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Tybura reminds me of DC

    Volkov looks exhausted already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

    That was very quick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Just give Mackhachev a title shot already and we'll have a real champion for a long time.

I've been talking about him for a long time. And I'll say it, I think he's more complete than Khabib was.

Islam is different gravy lads. The likes of Dustin, Mcgregor and Gaethje have no chance against these dagistani boys.

They will dominate for as long as they want.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Esse85

    Can't argue with that.

Hard to decide who gets performance of the night between him and Chimaev.

Poirier and Oliveira won't fancy fighting him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Corey Sandhagen is going down here too. Yan is different gravy and by far the best in the division. I think this one will last no more than two rounds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 761 ✭✭✭barryribs

Agreed (except for the use of 'different gravy') Sandhagen is game, but Yan is head and shoulders above everyone

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

All the hotly fancied fighters dong the biz in style

I thought if anyone could cause an upset it might be corey but I think after round one Yan will take over

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

If there's going to be an upset it'll be my joint favourite fighter Glover Texeira.

That's a great matchup. Glover can take a shot but Blachowitz is massively powerful but if Glover gets inside anything could happen.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

This fight is so hard to call.

Sandhagen is a beast but find it very hard to see Yan losing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭Porthallian

    10-9 Sandhagen

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭Porthallian

19-19 much better round for Yan. Crisp boxing. Nice body kicks

    Great fight so far.

Sandhagen full of energy, he can't keep that up can he?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭Porthallian

29-28 Yan. Close round until the knockdown.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭Porthallian

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,648 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

That was some combo to knock him down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    Great fight.

    3-1 Yan for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,420 ✭✭✭✭rob316

What a fight. Yan couple rounds up here

2 -2 going into last. although 2nd was tight

yan getting stronger as fight goes on

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭Porthallian

39-37 Yan. Corey not doing a whole lot wrong but Yan's boxing is fantastic.

I thought Sandhagen was gone through the cage when Yan hit him with that left to the body

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭Porthallian

49-46 Yan. Close 5th round. Yan landed the bigger shots. Corey didn't show enough urgency for me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,286 ✭✭✭✭mdwexford

    Class fight.

    49-46 Yan in my opinion.

Yan is a killer, Corey is all volume.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 761 ✭✭✭barryribs

Tremendous fight. Yan is so good, accuarate and powerful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,254 ✭✭✭Esse85

Would be shocked to see a new champ in the main event.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

I can't make a case for glover at all...Jan wins this easy. I can't see him getting Jan down either.

Glover winning though would be for me and many one of the best moments in mma history alongside Bisping winning gold

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭Porthallian

Joe Martinez's "make some noise if you aaaare reeeaadyy" sounds a lot better tonight than at a near empty UFC Apex :-)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 39,452 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Credit to Sandhagen, he put a lot of work into preparing for that fight.

I don't know how he got through round 3.

Yan is just so intelligent though. He learns as the fight goes on and finds a way to beat you.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭Porthallian

Well this is interesting. Still if Jan survives this first round you'd fancy the Polish Power in rd2

Aside from a finish, that 1st couldn't have gone much better for Glover.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

    This is interesting indeed

if he happens to have another td in the second it'll be very interesting

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,961 ✭✭✭✭mailburner

    oh my god
