Jim Gavin... road / street / square / bridge or statue by Croke Park would be appropriate.... he revolutionized Dublin football, probably football in general, tactically, the behind the scenes stuff, fitness and skills... turned the Dubs into one of the most successful sports teams and entertaining sports teams in the history of the country... a blueprint that since he retired they will go on to benefit from.. and have done with last years success.

Beyond naming streets and the like after revolutionary leaders, it's not really something that is done here. Ireland's most influential civil servant TK Whitaker has only a lecture theatre and the institute of public administration named in his honour.

I think this is because there is a moratorium on calling something after someone for at least 10 years after their death. Once the fervour surrounding their death has passed, there seems to be little appetite to rename things. See Stephen Gately.

Of the living, probably Michael D will have something in NUIG named in his honour.
