Celtics - Bucks has turned into a great game here in the second half. Giannis is just such a beast. Perfect Christmas Day game for prime time here.

As are his tweets and his flopping.

The Christmas Eve tweet was a highlight in irresponsibility.

Oden’s career was cut horribly short by injury.

The way the Knicks were setting Kemba up for the rebounds for the his triple double was embarrassing.

LeBron had 32 points as part of a triple double tonight as the Lakers finally get a win to go 17-18.

You couldn’t let it slide could you…lol

Not hating at all, I love it :)

While your heart remains full of hate, most people are savouring the last vestiges of greatness. Can't be long now before his body prevents him producing to this level so consistently. 37, just incredible.

Each year carries the promise that it could be the last for James playing at his standard level. And similarly, each year he swats those concerns into the 15th row. Two years ago it was with a championship run in the bubble. Last year, he was the likely MVP before Solomon Hill dove into his leg, costing him 20 games.

And now, with each terrific shooting night and every chase-down block, James continues to push the limits of what an aging player can achieve. Karl Malone won his second MVP in 1999 when he was 35, and while the games James has missed and the Lakers’ struggles have so far kept LeBron out of the early-season discussion, his numbers are better than what Malone did in that season at the end of the last century.

    Good little read: https://theathletic.com/3043261/2021/12/30/lebron-james-turns-37-on-basketball-mortality-the-future-and-fine-wine/

Did I comment on his play?

Did you see the tweet he put out on Christmas Eve? The one I’m referring to?

Ricky Rubio out for the season with a torn ACL. Very sad for him and for the Cavs too.

Sorry. I forgot this is the place where LeBron is immune from any criticism no matter what he does or says.

Your posting has - over a large sample size going back over a half decade that I have been on here - focused on every anti LeBron take going. And that's fine, there's a minority of basketball fans that actively hate LeBron. My opinion is that contingent is missing something glorious, and maybe you'll only realise it after the fact. Probably when LeBron's version of the Jordan documentary comes out in a few years.

For the rest of us? We're drinking in the last vestiges of a fine wine.

The Demar Derozan revenge tour has been a great watch. Can't wait to see Lavine explode in the playoffs too, been way too overdue.

and again, I didn’t comment on his play, but I will. His play for a man of his age and with as many miles on the block as he has is incredible - happy now? i haven’t seen anything like it since Kareem, which is a huge compliment.

That said, that doesn’t give him carte blanche to say anything he likes on Twitter without criticism. Do you even know the tweet I’m referring to?

How about you just quote what he said rather than just alluding to it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 41,909 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Well I'll have to agree with you as regards his off the court stuff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Criticized wide and far by many (incl. Kareem), but not on boards.ie of course!

Btw, for those of you who haven't ever read any of Kareem's books or heard him speak he is an incredibly measured, intelligent, and articulate thinker. A very wise man indeed.

That’s what your so upset about ? A Spider-Man meme ? Lol, come on dude, really…

    DeMarvellous DeRozan does it again.

You really see nothing wrong with a prominent athlete basically saying the coronavirus is the same as a cold when 800,000+ Americans have died as a result of it?

    Ok.............

And the current and former players who criticized him over this post....they're also wrong I assume?

LeBron can be BOTH a great player and an asshat btw.

In other news.......Kevin Young - who started his coaching career in the SuperLeague - has been covering for Monty Williams who is in Health and Safety Protocols for the moment.

I don’t think a basketball thread is the place to discuss this.

I would say everyone is entitled to their opinion. The ineptitude of the government, the greed of the pharmaceutical companies, the silencing of prominent experts in that field by tech companies and the government would give any rational person thoughts of questioning these past few years of authoritarian measures

I would listen to a wide range of experts rather than basketball players.

Experts like Dr McCullough and Malone give a more honest and fact based analysis of the past few years

And no Iam not anti vax , that’s all I will say on the matter, it’s a rabbit hole no one wants to go down

happy new year and the best of health to you

As a Bulls fan since the 90's, this is my favourite Bulls team since then, completely resparked my joy in watching NBA. Pity about the injuries and whether it's win or lose, always fun to watch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

Chicago are being destroyed by injuries at the moment, real shame for them as they were seriously outperforming expectations.

In almost 40 years of following and watching the NBA I’ve never seen a conference race as close as how the East is now. It’s great tbh.

I am really hoping they enjoy good health going into the play-offs, just to see how they do. I don't think they get past the Bucks or a fit (physically and mentally!) Nets, but I was really enjoying their play prior to this spate of injuries.

I think they'll be able to challenge anyone as long as they are healthy and Vucevic is playing well. The problem is neither of those things are consistently the case. It's amazing how much worse the Bulls are defensively when Caruso isn't there. But if Vucevic can find a bit of consistency and you now have Levine and DeRozan on the court at the same time, they can probably weather the next few weeks until Caruso and Ball come back without dropping too many points. Ayo Dosunmo getting better every week...they need everything to go right for them but if it does they'll go well against anyone, at least in the East.

Some very one-sided trades over the last few days. Indiana and New Orleans did very well in their trades, both fleecing Sacramento and Portland respectively. Next few hours should be interesting to see who else makes a move.

The Harden to the sixers looks to be a far better deal for the Nets. Thou not sure Simmons will work out either in NY
