Out for PS4 and PS5 on the 4th of March 2022. Release date may be subject to change.

The game will have over 420 cars to collect (new and used) and 90 tracks to race on. There will also be dynamic weather conditions.

    Pokemon with cars.

I wonder if this will be like the last few releases and launch pretty much as a demo with updates that eventually make it the game it should be. It's probably the best way to release the game, near early access, considering the legendary delays some games in the series had. GT still seems to have a handling advantage over Forza Motorsport

^ Legendary delays in some GT games. Could you expand on that please? The only GT game I'm currently playing is GT Sport. Last GT game I played before that was the late 90's

Started with Gran Turismo PSP which was delayed from launch window to near the end of the consoles life. It made it on multiple vaporware award lists. GT5 launched with the kind of demo prologue in 2007 and then took 3 years to release. GT6 then started the 'early access' release model.

Meh, as long as it provides far more older cars and non-super+ cars, I'll be happy. I find modern racing games lose the fun the faster you go, but it's a joy to fly around tracks in cars I've driven in real life. Nice to hear the second hand market is back, so that should be good fun at least, coupled with the visual mods, I am somewhat excited about this.

^ Just make sure you get a full service history when buying a secondhand motor 😉

I can't remember how they did that back on the first couple of games. If memory serves me correct, the second hand ones could have had issues if you didn't do the oil change. I'd like a more expanded version, something like hidden issues you wouldn't see unless you spent money on a proper full check which costs credits. But shur, they throw so many credits at you, along with cars, that it seems kinda pointless to have even the oil change option...

Above gameplay looks stunning. Hopefully we will see more before release, and I will have a PS5 by the time the game is released.

    Looks excellent, can't wait

Just for anyone interested, Smyths are selling back 4 blood on ps5 for €20 which you can then trade into gamestop as a preorder to get GT7 for €29.99. I'll be doing it tomorrow.

Hard to believe its about 25 years since I got the very first one on release day.

Gran Turismo 7 State of Play this Wednesday 2nd of February at 10PM.

Just a little bit over a month to go before the game is released.

The last Gran Turismo game I played with a number at the end was Gran Turismo 2 back in 2000/2001. Between 2001 to early 2018 I didn't play a Gran Turismo game until I started playing Gran Turismo Sport in 2018.

State of Play event on now.

Very impressed with what I saw. Day one purchase for me.

    Cannot wait for this game.

may have to invest in a wheel this time round.

Looks completely stunning, and everything I want from a Gran Turismo game. Really hyped for this now.

Looks tasty. I'll be buying this after i've had all my fun with Elden Ring

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,287 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

Maybe us boardsies can have some online races to see how competitive we are.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29,969 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Nah, already have games in February i can't afford and way too close to Elden Ring. Will definitely go for it in a few months though.

Oh man, it looks so damn good!

    80 bucks though, yikes :(

Looking forward to this I have to say, bit odd considering its the 25th anniversary that there is no super duper signature collectors edition like gt5/6/sport and 6 was the 15th year anniversary also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,602 ✭✭✭RocketRaccoon

Not sure if it's still possible to do it but Smyths were selling back 4 blood for €20 last weekend, Gamestop were accepting it on their trade list towards GT7. Could trade it in and pre order GT7 for €29.99, because I have a gamestop members card, I actually got it for €24.99

Thanks for the heads up, no stock in Limerick though or anywhere nearby 😆

Looks great, I'll get it eventually not a hope of me paying €80 they're taking the pish with that carry on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,602 ✭✭✭RocketRaccoon

I got it in the ennis road shop last Saturday, they had 15+ in stock so people obviously copped on to it.

I saw it at the time, there was about 12 left, but I totally forgot about 5 mins later, so my own fault entirely 😁

The game looks phenomenal but €80 is saucy. €60 or thereabouts on the American PSN which is where I will be getting it.

It's good to see the car wash back. A hand wash at that. You can't beat a good hand job.

They've been teasing some kind of "breakthrough" collaboration between Polyphony and Sony AI to be announced later this week. Given that it wasn't in the state of play and Sony AI do proper machine learning R&D beyond computer games I doubt it's just something related to the AI opponents. I'm guessing it's more likely something tangential like the use of Gran Turismo to train up real life autonomous vehicle drivers or AI playing a role in the design of a Vision GT concept car or something like that, but who knows.

PS4 version comes on two discs, PS5 version comes on one disc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,414 ✭✭✭✭flazio

Digital version might not fit on older PS4s then? Or if it does there won't be room for much else.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,753 ✭✭✭quokula

The AI project hinted at last week was GT Sophy, an AI driver trained using cutting edge machine learning techniques to race competitively and fairly. Apparently it can beat top e-sports drivers and races like a human in wheel to wheel racing.

It won't be in the game at launch but will be in a future update. It's unclear what form it will take as they've talked about it being a companion and a learning tool in addition to being a competitor. It would need to be able to scale to be competitive with regular players rather than just with top players, which isn't as simple as you'd think for this kind of black box AI.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,287 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

Two weeks to go to release 😎

Something to note about Sophy is that the rollout worker (driving agent) is running external to the PS4 hardware. The PS4 hardware runs a game instance while the driving agent runs on high-end servers. The driving agent feeds actions into the PS4 game instance and gets updated states back.

The driving agent is very CPU intensive, and the PS4 CPU is already maxed out simply running the game. PS4 couldn't even run a single Sophy agent in real time, let alone an entire field of them.

What this means is that crudely "adding Sophy to GT7" is not possible. I know this claim been floating around in the media and even attributed to Kaz but it's overly simplistic. They intend to learn from Sophy and hope to incorporate lessons into future game AI. Realistically you're talking about GT8 (and a clean break from PS4) before you see any kind of AI even remotely derived from Sophy in a GT game.

The renders I've seen suggest that they are maintaining their association with Lewis Hamilton. I'd love to see Sophy hand Hamilton's backside to him on a plate in a sim race.

    This too shall pass.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,382 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

From what I've seen on SuperGT about Sophy, she takes impossible angles and is always aware of the exact grip, so uses grass entries and exits on turns. She's also a bit aggressive. I wouldn't have a hope against her!

A little bit over a week to release. Can't wait to play it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,602 ✭✭✭RocketRaccoon

Can't wait to play it but it won't be on the Friday night, it's clashing with Batman in the cinema.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,038 ✭✭✭✭PopePalpatine

I've got the Anniversary Edition reserved in the local GameStop. The last time I was anywhere near this excited for a release was GTA V. Bring on the divebombers of Sport Mode!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,287 ✭✭✭✭Jordan 199

I never did online racing in GT Sport. With the release of 7 just around the corner, I might dip into online racing in 7.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,741 ✭✭✭bigron2109

Thinking of trading in Call of Duty Black Opps in GameStop and they give you €35 credit for that and I can buy Back 4 Blood for €30 from them and then use that to book Gran Turismo. I presume they would let you do that ? Has anyone every done that before with them ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,602 ✭✭✭RocketRaccoon

Just make sure back 4 blood is still on their list first.
