How would you apply for a training licence? What do you need if you want it for hunting and Clay Pigeon shooting. Do I need a letter from a land owner or since it’s a joint licence will I be fine? Also do I need to join a gun club?

Paddy Mc Ginn - How would you apply for a training licence?

Use the FCA1 and fill in the following:

    • Section 1, tick training certificate.
    • Section 2.1 to 2.5 (all of it)
    • Section 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3, 3.5, but ignore 3.4.
    • Section 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 (if you're in a club, if not ignore) and section 4.4.
    • Section 5.1, ignore 5.2
    • Sign it, date it, have guardian sign it if under 16.

Land permission and/or gun club membership for hunting. For clays, nothing as its not target shooting. For the FCA1 i'd tick, in section 4.2 the following boxes - "Hunting"and "Other". this covers you for both hunting and clays as the reason for the license.

Nope, you need your own permission to show you have permission to shoot on the land. The permission the "fully "licensed person has is for them, and them alone.

Paddy Mc Ginn - Also do I need to join a gun club?

Only if you don't have permission on lands of your own (not ones you own, but ones you have access to.
