Was out in Airside a while ago and saw what looked to be a Lotus sign and somewhat temporary showroom at the back of the Joe Duffy Land Rover dealership - checked and see it's listed on the Lotus website too. Nice to see Lotus back in Ireland in an official capacity.

I've since switched to the 1.6 Octavia. It could do with being lowered on coilovers in my opinion. The civic was lowered by 40mm and I found it made a good difference with the handling.

Mine could do with that too. It's like a boat when you shoot around a roundabout too quickly. Looks like it on stilts too with the massive gap between the wheel arch and tyres.

What would the rough cost be for labour charge for a timing belt change on 2008 Zafira 1.6 petrol, the timing belt doesn't go round water pump on this engine so its belt and 2 pulleys only.

Rough guess would be between €300-500 depending on where you go. Then with the way everything is going up in price you could be looking at the higher end of the price I said.

I'm pretty sure I got a timing belt and water pump done for €250 but that was many many years ago. Just read the post above why it would cost more now.

Wow, that's labour only! im supplying parts, was thinking €150/200 mark,

i paid Opel to do it 7 years ago ,cost €450 includes parts.

No that is with them suppling the parts. I read your original post wrong. Things have gone up in price too. I'm just guessing the price. Best ring up a few garages and ask for a quote. It's along time since I got a timing belt done as my last car I changed it myself.

My guess now is €200-250 with you suppling the parts. But as I said I'm guessing and have no idea what you will be charged. Like you could go to a proper garage and they charge a lot or go to some guy who does nixers at night and weekends and he could be really cheap.

End up getting the belt, water pump, fan belt and full service for just under a grand if an Indy in the end.

From Ford ? Probably. End of the day it's still a 2.0 150 tdci with a few tweeks to bring it up to 185hp.

Happy out with what I paid from indy garage. Got it done at 125k opposed to 200k as i don't trust manufacturer intervals and read of a few going early on the FB groups I'm on. 😕

Eibach Pro Kit is probably the way to go. 40mm drop front and 30mm rear. The standard shocks will do fine.

I wasn't aware you were going to lower your car. I used the standard shocks on the Civic as well with H&R springs worked a treat.

Other than the handling the Skoda is a very comfortable car, especially on the coming and going to and from Sligo. I am liking it. I am still getting used to the size of it though. With it being a bit longer than the Civic

Timing belt done , labour charge €200, Total €285, labour €200, parts €85 (no water pump fitted) from Mister-auto, now they were going to replace auxiliary belt at same time which i also supplied but said it was the wrong belt, they left old one on as they said it looks fine, will have to get back to mister-auto on that, glad the timing belt was right one this would have been hassle if it wasn't, this is the chance you take by not ordering local, but local wanted €130 for timing belt kit.

Tbh that is a mazing value considering the way things atm. Just look up a few posts above a guy paid just under a grand for same job. Granted he would probably have got the waterpump done at the same time but still.

Getting an orange engine warning light on the dash for a time every few days. Will I book in or leave it till it comes on permanently?

Book it in somewhere, people usually only bring cars in when the lights been on a while and the damage has already been done.

Might only be something minor, but better off finding out now on the off chance it's not.

Personally, I've never seen a warning light come only sometimes. Thought once on it stays on till fixed or cleared. Have scheduled maintenance due in a couple of weeks so I'll get it sorted then.

It can happen. I had a car and that happened it was a coil pack was going bad but not gone dead as if it had gone bad completely it would run like sh*t and the engine warning light would be lit fully. As above you should get it checked out as last thing you want is to be stuck at the side of the road and how these things go it could be the one night you are far away from home in the middle of a storm.
